watched House Of Flying Daggers for the first time the other night. A stunning film, but is let down by an overlong third act. So much better than Hero.

Last night I watched The Rainmaker and Miss Congeniality. I've seen the both before. 4/5 each.

Hitch. I thought it was quite endearing.

I watched it on Boxoffice and quiet liked it.  Missed the end though, as Eva Mendes' arse was blocking whatever the camera was pointing at.  Seriously, it was like one of those airplane spoofs were the arse is just constantly inflating.

The Curse of the Cat People - Mmm. Not too sure what to make of this. As a follow-up to the masterful Cat People it stinks! Where are the Cat People dammit? However by itself it is a pretty good film about childhood innocence and the potential danger it can lead  to. Well directed and at only seventy minutes very well paced. Will be interested in revisiting it with commentary on the DVD!

Kuhle Wampe.....not out of choice.

I wouldn't say that it's entertaining but it's a very good film.

Robots (DVD) - Fun little film, some good voice acting (Robin Williams), had some funny moments, but the plot is pretty unoriginal. Still, it was entertaining enough. 3/5

I watched 21 Grams last night. 'Twas very good. The mixed-up narrative made it very interesting.

8/10

I went to see A History of Violence on Friday and was really disappointed. Others here seem to have liked it but I found that having enjoyed the first hour and with everything set up for real consideration of the leading characters it just went off on a farcical (albeit funny) tangent.
It seems like there was a really good film in there but it failed to materialise.

Isn't this a blatant rip off of my "Last Night I Watched...." thread that ran for about a year on the old forum, James??

I watched Spirited Away last night as I bought it in HMV sale for a tenner. Still magic.

I have no idea what you mean

Besides, I needed a good thread since someone stole my DVD purchase thread when the forum opened

I saw Red Eye.  It was ok and even though Wes Craven said he was moving away for horror it still felt like a horror movie in many ways.  I saw 40 Year old virgin last week.  Another average film. Don't really get the hype fro Steve Carroll.

I really should stop letting my girlfriend pick the movie!  Maybe drag her to Land of the Dead.

I saw it just now on my lunch break (slack job! ) and came out feelin a bit disappointed too, the first hour was great but I agree the last part left me feelin a bit deflated in a way...

Mortensen was good and the action was brilliant though! Gruesome... foot + neck = pain!

One Night At McCools. Good fun. I've seen it before. 3/5

The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring Extended Edition. Simply the best film I've ever seen.
