Basically this is where you post what films you saw today or lately and give a quick review and rating.

Friday Night Lights - Entertaining American Football film with Thornton on top form as ever. Touching in places and the games are exciting. 4/5

Day of the dead was the last film I watched. A unique take on the zombie movie I thought. Not as good as Dawn, but better then night (imo).

better then Night??

Day is a good zombie film, though its as slow as a bloody zombie for the first half but Bub and the brilliant finale makes up for it.

I cant say I really appritiated night that much. The picture quality just made it hard to enjoy, and even if it was revolutionary, I found much more enjoyment in the bigger budget colour ones. The end was certainly unexpected though, and better then the finale to the other 2.

HEAT- Best film of its genre. Two of the greatest actors of all time face it off, great story and Michael Mann actualy takes care in his characters and feels in total control, never letting the film to be rushed. The film has some gorgeous cinematography. A masterpeice. 9.2/10

I bought and watched (for the 1st time) The Hitchhikers Guide movie last weekend.
It was rubbish.
Took it bag and swapped it for Jaws instead which managed to scare my 7yr old son witless the other night.

The Bourne Supremacy, one of the best sequels since Aliens. The down beat ending was brilliant, a bit of a shame that they had to tack on the final scene.

The last film i saw for the first time was 12 Angry men.

Bloody Brilliant too. About a jury on a murder case, 11 men think its a open and shut case, 1 disagrees.

5/5 for me.

Revolver - Great directing, great cast, odd last five minutes but doesn't deserve any of the crticisms it got from the press. 4/5

Oldboy - The film Kill Bill and Sin City want to be. Brutal, hard to watch and occasionally sick but always enthralling. Packs a punch. Or a claw hammer if you will.

Romy and Michele: In The Beginning - it was pretty lame (giggling does not equal comedy) but Kelly Brook was actually pretty good in it.  She has the talent to be a good actress.  And those boobies...like ripe melons.

Oh the boobies.

Mmmmm...melboobs

White Noise which I found rather scary despite the predictable-ness of it all and at the same time really enjoyed the film. Quite simple idea with a few tricks added in and a very good performance from Michael Keaton makes for quite a cool movie. I was expecting something totally pants.

You know, I watched Godzilla on DVD the other day and if you have big screen TV and decent sound system it's actually a damn good experience.  The script's still lame, and it's all downhill after they get to Madison Square Garden, but it's not as bad as we all made out in 1998.

The last film I saw was A History of Violence. It's the best film of the year, one of David Cronenberg's best as well!!

Well last night I saw...

There's plenty that's great about this telling of the story of the space race and the first 7 Americans to cross the finish line.  Ed Harris is fantastic as John Glenn and there's a clutch of great performances around him, notably from Dennis Quaid, Fred Ward and the ever underrated Scott Glenn.
Unfortunately Phillip Kaufman lets the film drag on far too long, mainly because he's fascinated with the story of some test pilots whose connection to the astronauts is ephemeral at best.
After Glenn lands there's a perfect ending for the film, on a high but we're still sitting there 20 minutes later, begging it to stop.  A real shame because this could have been great.

That film was just pants overall. Im not a big fan of the original, but at least it didnt keep me woundering "when is this gonna get good?". The 2000 version had that guy from scrubs trying to be intimidating, but I just couldnt take him seriously. Alan Cumming was ok... Mickey Rourke wasnt anything special this time though. I thought the saving grace might be the ending, but they decided to change the end too.

Believe the hype guys. This film doesnt deserve any more then 2 stars.
