The Empire Forums Top 100 TV Shows 2011 So it’s that time of year again. After being way too busy earlier in the year to set this up, I am now embracing work avoidance and would like to see what you the people of Empire would like to crown as their 2011 champion (this may well run into 2012 though). The Wire retained its crown in 2010 and could become the first television show to capture three straight titles in this illustrious competition. But can its nearest rivals for the last two years, Band of Brothers and two times champion The Simpsons, defeat the Baltimore juggernaut? Can another show challenge and will the top 7 remain the same for the third straight year? Will some of the big hitters such as 24 and Lost suffer from being well over? Will new shows since the last vote like Game of Thrones or An Idiot Abroad make an appearance? And more importantly will Cheers finally gain its rightful place in the top 10? This year there are changes to the way votes are counted and how many shows you can vote for. So have a read of the rules and get voting: 1. You must vote for a top 40, top 20 or a top 10. It is up to you whether which of these you choose but be aware that the same points system applies to all three so your number 1 will get 50pts whichever one you do. Here's a handy example of how to vote: 1. Rainbow (50 Points) 2. In the Night Garden (49 Points) 3. Saved by the Bell (48 Points) 4. Knightmare (47 Points) 5. Going Live (46 Points) 6. Thundercats (45 Points) 7. Dungeons and Dragons (44 Points) 8. He-Man (43 Points) 9. The Wuzzles (42 Points) 10. The Raccoons (41 Points) 11. Gummi Bears (40 Points) 12. Jase and the Wheeled Warriors (39 Points) 13. T-Bag (38 Points) 14. Trapdoor (37 Points) 15. The Riddlers (36 Points) 16. Centurions (35 Points) 17. Fraggle Rock (34 Points) 18. Denver the Last Dinosaur (33 Points) 19. Inspector Gadget (32 Points) 20. Ducktales (31 Points) 21. Muppet Babies (30 Points) 22. Teddy Ruxpin (29 Points) 23. Get Along Gang (28 Points) 24. Heathcliff (27 Points) 25. James the Cat (26 Points) 26. World in Action (25 Points) 27. Count Duckula (24 Points) 28. Henry's Cat (23 Points) 29. The Mysterious Cities of Gold (22 Points) 30. Galaxy High (21 Points) 31. Sharky and George (20 Points) 32. California Dreams (19 Points) 33. Bananas in Pyjamas (18 Points) 34. Bucky O'Hare (17 Points) 35. Captain Planet (16 Points) 36. Jamie and the Magic Torch (15 Points) 37. Hangin' with Mr Cooper (14 Points) 38. Once Upon a Time...Life (13 Points) 39. Poddington Peas (12 Points) 40. Out of This World (11 Points) 2. The votes will be counted by myself and Rawlinson. 3. If anyone wishes to amend their list before the closing date please quote your original list and post your new one. That is vital as I count as you post and will not be going back to check on lists I have already counted. You can also PM your list to myself if you don't want it to appear on this thread. 4. The closing date is 30th March. And I’m happy for anyone to PM me about blurbs they'd like to do, you can probably guess a few shows that will feature. 5. You must have a minimum of 5 posts in the forum to be able to vote. 6. If you are voting for a show that has been remade (eg. Battlestar Galactica) or remade in a different country (eg. The Office, Wallander) please specify which year/country you are referring to. Every year we have a few queries about the eligibility of certain programmes and whether some series can be grouped together or not. So to pre-empt anymore queries these are the ones that have been queried and are eligible: Das Boot Fanny and Alexander Dekalog And here are ones that we deemed acceptable to group together: David Attenborough Life Series Michael Palin Travel Documentaries Doctor Who (old and new) Derren Brown shows Quatermass (including I, II, Experiment and the PIt) Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe/Newswipe Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy/Smiley's People Yes Minister/Yes Primer Minister And these have to be counted separately: CSI, CSI Miami and CSI New York Knowing Me, Knowing You and I’m Alan Partridge All the above will be added to if anymore queries come up. And just in case you want a reminder of the previous poll results and the winners:: 2006 - The Simpsons 2007 - The Simpsons 2009 - The Wire 2010 - The Wire Or you want to remind yourself who you voted for last year: 2010 votes I'd also like to point you in the direction of Your Funny Uncle's poll for the top 100 TV characters which is being run here. Hopefully voting in either list will inspire you to vote in the other.
