When I saw he wanted to nominate The Room, I genuinely considered putting Troll 2 in the mix.

You're a bigger whore than Matty, so I take that as a compliment. Also, you like Life Is Beautiful.

The Room is available to rent in the UK, right?

Nope, but a quick Google search brought up a website that streams it for free. I'm gonna try watching it either tomorrow or Wednesday and will let you know how I get on.

Any chance of a link to that?

Sure, no problem. If it works (as I say I'll try it either tomorrow or Wednesday time permitting) I'll send you a PM.

Cheers!

Nice tactics there.

Actually, I might rent it out this weekend - I've never seen it, and Warren Beatty was fine in his youth.

That's not the follow-up sentence I expected, Rhub Especially because Underground is longer than Downfall... (oh wait, that features Nazis as well)

Righto.

The Penalty. Not seen but it's up in full on Youtube. Silent dramatic films tend to either be really, really good or awful.

The Music Box is obviously great.

Not seen An American In Paris. I may have the DVD, but Ilm not sure.

Bonnie and Clyde. Meh. Beatty is soooooo bad in this he tends to overshawdow all the good stuff.

Marketa Lazarova. Lovefilm here I come.

The Last Picture Show. Meh.

Requiem For A Village has been Lovefilmed for a while. Time to move it to top priority.

Wise Blood, I recorded it last Christmas but haven't seen it yet. At the time I didn't think I'd ever seen it but now that picture brings back memories, My database says I saw it almost 6 years ago, back in November 2005. I gave it 2 stars.

Das Boot. Not seen for years. I can now take the cellophane off the DVD I goty two christmasses back.

Not seen Undergound. Another one for LF.

I bet the Room is awesome.

Downfall is amazing.

United 93's good.

Is this Hall of Fame: The Quite Long Films Round? I mean...

Downfall (excellent) is 155 minutes, Underground (beautiful, stunning, hilarious,, heartbreaking, etc...) is 167 minutes, Das Boot (harrowing and also rather excellent) is 209 minutes and Marketa Lazarova (Not seen but I've been meaning to for a long time) is 162 minutes.

On the others I've seen:

United 93: Pretty effective and quite a moving experience.
The Last Picture Show: Beautiful, simply beautiful.
Bonnie and Clyde: Used to be one of my favorite films. Still love it.
The Room: Did paul choose this becuase he sympathized with the old lady?

That's the TV series I think. Underground is long 320 minutes in its Uncut TV version form.

An American in Paris - Meh until that end sequence
Bonnie and Clyde - I haven't watched this in over 10 years. I loved it then, who knows how I'd feel about it now.
The Last Picture Show - Watched this yesterday, really enjoyed it.
Das Boot - Excellent
Downfall - Ganz is utterly compelling.
United 93 - The most intense cinema experience of my life. An amazing film.

Haven't seen any of the others, although Marketa Lazarova has been on my want to watch list for a while.

Bonnie and Clyde - I nom'd it, so I think you have an idea how I feel about it.

The Room - Make sure to watch this with some witty buddies, that's where the fun was for us.

Yeah, but I'd recommend the director's cut at only 209 minutes - it's worth every minute. It's a stunning piece of cinema.
