Its around to that time of year again where men around the world attempt to grow a tache in aid of charity. The charity is Movember, which is a mens health charity which mainly looks at raising awareness of prostate cancer.

The idea of the fund raising within the charity is that you start the month of November clean shaven, and over the course of the month you grow a tache of your choosing. So far, the charity has raised over 100m worldwide.

Since a few guys in my office have talked me into taking part this year, I wondered if anyone else on here was going to put themselves through the embarrassment. I think I have talked Homer into taking part over the last couple of hours, but I figured we could use a thread for keeping each other motivated/posting pictures for everyone else to laugh at

Someone I work with did this last year and grew a pretty awesome handlebar tache. He kept it for a little while afterward too. I could probably have been persuaded to take part this year if anyone else I knew was doing it/if I'd known about it sooner to get sponsorship. I also think I'd grow a shit tache. Next year maybe. But big support to those who take part.

The singer in my band is growing a 'tache. I'm thinking about rocking it myself.

Not allowed to, my manager wouldn't mind but her managers would. No point telling everyone I'm growing a tache for charity only for some cow to force me to shave it off after a fortnight.

Where do you work that bans growing a mustache?

Also I'd imagine catering would ban facial hair.

Are retail actually able to ban a moustache?

Be brave Homer! You seemed to like the idea a couple of hours ago.

I grew a charity tache last year although it was an unofficial one for Childline rather than the official Movember.  I had a full horeshoe going on - like Jason Issacs in Green Zone.  May have left it a bit late for charity this year but might just rock one for the sake of it.

Facial hair isn't allowed in my job because it's seen as scruffy. No exceptions

Well you'd know....

only joking....

Yes, apparently I'm doing the Mo-vember thing.   A lot of the guys in work are doing it...which is grand...but if I could just find a way of explaining to the people on the street that I'm not a) a convict b) a 70's set pornstar...or c)a 70's set  convict from the porn industry.

I'm planning to off-set the awful-ness with a little triangle under my bottom lip and be dead-Douglas-Fairbanks-Junior and dashing and stuff..But apparently chin hair is illegal.

Fuck it...Chicks dig anarchy!!!!!

You're just jealous cause you're nowhere near manly enough to grow one of your own.

Chin hair negates the whole point, which is that moustaches look shit and hence charity-worthy. If you grow chin hair as well, instead of sporting a highly unfashionable aspect of facial fur you've just grown a beard.

The store manager at work did this one year. We spent the whole month making fun of him because we genuinely thought he was trying to grow a moustache and it was the most pathetic looking thing ever. He always came across as a really mean man, which made it harder to believe he was doing something for charity. Whenever he walked past, me and my friends would put our hands up under our nose and wiggle our fingers (much like when you impersonate an ood). That month was hilarious.

We all felt pretty bad when we found out he was doing it for charity though.

Surely by now that should be classed as cheating!

I think my work mates are planning a night out at the end of the month, as well as there being a vote around the office for the best moustache.
