For the next gen consoles they will need to make GTA: World

Three cites - a Toyko, a London and and a Washington. You should be able to travel between then, making deals and establishing a crimminal empire.

Hmmmm - GTA has always been intended as a satire of American society, setting it outside of the US would lose a lot of what makes it great really. (London 1969 doesn't count because it was just a reskinned GTA with some funny cockney accents.)

GTA: 4 sucked all the fun out of Grand Theft Auto. I'd like a return to the fun of GTA3 and Vice City please!

You gotta love Rockstar just putting a single webpage out there and the world goes crazy.

I dont think theres another franchise out there that actually causes such a reaction when a new title is announced

I thought San Andreas was just the best thing ever, so I'd be happy with something along the same lines (think GTA4 was a bit too serious and not as fun as the others). Cruising through the desert listening to 'Horse with no name'..

Yeah, I was more than a little disappointed with GTA4 after the sublime San Andreas.  I would be happy with a return to modern San Andreas, perhaps with a cameo from CJ too.  That would be awesome.

I enjoyed GTA4 but I never played the predecessors much. Just please, no more bowling with annoying cousins

I'd like better character movement, GTA feels slightly robotic. I wanna be able to scale buildings, a little free running sort of thing. Basically I wanna escape the police in more creative ways.

Rockstar have developed between GTA 4 and now. Not to mention that they do learn what fans want/don't want. AKA they stripped down the RPG elements for GTA 4 because fans weren't so keen. I suspect we won't be having "NIKO ITS YOUR COUSIN!" stuff in this one.

Hopefully they have listened to my suggestion to remove all the vulgarity and violence from the game.

True enough I guess. Red Dead Redemption was a million times more fun than GTA4.

I guess the trailer being released next week means it definitely won't be on the next-gen consoles. If rumours are true, Microsoft won't be revealing their next machine until E3 next year, so there's no way Rockstar would basically announce the next-gen before then.

True dat. Red Dead was great because it didn't have all the silly bollocks GTA 4 had, even with scaling it back from San Andreas there was still far to much silly stuff you had to do in GTA. The fact ten hours into the game I was still being shown how to play it was a massive problem they need to address.

My problem with GTA4 was that after the huge open spaces of San Andreas (which made for some epic cross country police chases) we were back in a single city, that although broken up into four different sections, still felt a bit bland.
There wasnt a huge amount of variety to the different zones, and it just felt a bit too cramped and confined. I never had a problem with the forests and deserts of SA because it gave the game a sense of scale that GTA4 never really had

GTA IV was an improvement over San Andreas for me so I can't wait for GTA V. I'd rather have to ignore a phone call from my cousin every now and again than take 20+ minutes to get from one side of the city to the other in a car or having to watch my weight.

The jetpacks were made of win though.

I'd laugh if Rockstar stumped GTA fans by basing the city on somewhere like Birmingham, Alabama. I think San Andreas had 'Hicksville' territory there but to make that the centrepiece would be a new direction for sure.I agree, the game needs to go bigger in scope again. I think creating a new city altogether based somewhere in one of the southern states could work. They could try using New Orleans as a template. I'm sure the likes of Gay Tony would fit right in. Or perhaps a location based on Florida with the Everglades, that could be an opportunity to bring in Vice City to the mix.

I liked playing the GTA games, the 4th one I'm in the middle of, loving Brucie, all hopped up on horse steroids or something like that and Bernie, when you have the mission to follow him through the park becouse he keeps getting attacked for being gay. Hope the new one will progress the frachise further.

So any more thoughts on location? I'm going for somewhere completely different i.e. not San Andreas, Vice City or Liberty City. Other than that no idea.

Only seen news of that trailer as it turns out that a guy I've known for years is an animator for Rockstar North.

Just asked him: "Didn't realise you worked for Rockstar Chris, any inside info that wouldn't cost you your job?"
Answer: "nope, can't say anything i'm afraid dude."

Ah well.

I could see them going back to LA. Which is fine, but would be cooler if they set it in the 80s.

I also hope they are big fans of Drive. I kinda want them to put that movies soundtrack into the game.

A part of me would be disappointed if it was LA (mainly as it's already been done recently in L.A. Noire, though I realise this makes it more likely instead of less likely). That said, a late-70s/mid-80s setting would be pretty excellent (along the lines of something like To Live And Die In LA. or Ron Howard's Grand Theft Auto. ). Maybe go back slightly further for a Serpico/Assault on Precinct 13 kind of look.

Chances that we will actully be able to watch the trailer at 4? Unlikely. The severes over there are about to get destroyed.

I like to think they're prepared for the volume of traffic considering it's pretty much the biggest property in gaming, but then none of these sites ever are. boo.
