You gotta love Rockstar just putting a single webpage out there and the world goes crazy.

I thought 4 was great but I'm hoping there'll be less of the socialising crap and better music.

The Rock station was decent, as was Vice City FM. But most of the others I could take or leave.

Las Vegas was already featured in San Andreas.

I completed GTA4, but only have a fraction of the achievements. I can't wheelie for 400m for example - it's impossible!

Still wish Rockstar would make a sandbox Blade Runner game.

It would sell better than I think games companies think it would.

Aye but 3 and 4 were set in the same place so it's not without precedent.

Weren't there rumours that it was going to be L.A. as they already had it well mapped out for L.A. Noire? I think some of the casting pointed to this as well with failed actors/actresses and the like.

What is interesting to me is that this is GTA5. Not GTA: Name of City

With the GTA3 engine Rockstar made Vice City and San Andreas. Neither of which was given the title of GTA IV

Which makes me wonder just what the heck they have produced here - I would not be shocked if this was a whole new games engine.

More speculation that the V is not just for 5 but for Vice.

It's just wild speculation on another forum. Vice city was awesome though, speeding over the bridges into the sunset, blaring Laura Branigan out of the radio, "Whooaaa ohhh ohh!"

Shooting people on the helicopter with Atomic blaring out of the speakers.

I would prefer it if they went in a new direction rather than constantly recycling old ideas. That said, I do miss biking up a mountain to base jump off the top.

It will be tough to top that soundtrack. There are a few gems amongst the other games but VC was full of classics.

Would it work to play the game as a cop? Not necessarily a straight edged, by the book cop but not quite a vigilante either.

Nah, because you would be forced to be good - like L.A Noire.

Unless you were a bad guy who pretended to be a cop. Like the Departed. Like a series of missions where you pretended to be good in order to find out info or get to someone. That would be great.

I hope it's more Ballad of Gay Tony then the main GTA IV game. Gay Tony was awesome and everything GTA should be.

I guessing it'll be late next year? Don't Rockstar have Max Payne coming out in May? So they won't pump those out together...

GTA IV was a big disappointment for me. It just felt repetitive and the city never really seemed to change. For that reason I really hope they go for San Andreas as that had pretty much everything you could ask for in a GTA game (obviously leave out having to eat / work out because that was just arse).

But Girv's right; I would have expected GTA: "City name" as opposed to a numerical instalment. We might be reading too much into that though.

Actually "True Crime: Streets of LA" made the free-roaming sandbox game with a copper work. You had a 'badge count' with a meter bar around it. The more criminals you despatched and the more missions you  completed, the more the bar would fill-up and eventually the points would earn you a new badge. Which I think could be traded in for new skills and moves. It actually blended the shoot 'em-up/beat 'em-up styles of play very well. One minute you'd be kicking some mugger's head in with a few handy kung-fu moves ("Woah!" says Neo), the next you'll be drawing your weapon trying to shoot a robber in the leg so he survives and goes to jail. I actually found it a lot more fun just randomly searching old grannies for illegal weapons and drugs in addition to just arresting any criminal than going around killing people at will.Plus there's some hilarious lines in the game. One of my favourites is "this is my...boomstick!!". I think Clowny would like that one.

Oh bugger. Just bought GTA4 cos I never played it. Hope this isn't coming out anytime soon as I'd like to complete 4 first. Which I reckon may take me a century. Still not completed Vice City. Stuck on that race with Hilary.

As for speculation on what 5 would be about, there's money so Vegas is a good idea, and definately reminds me of San Andreas with it's fonts (tattooed gang types).

I dont think theres another franchise out there that actually causes such a reaction when a new title is announced

I thought San Andreas was just the best thing ever, so I'd be happy with something along the same lines (think GTA4 was a bit too serious and not as fun as the others). Cruising through the desert listening to 'Horse with no name'..
