Interesting choice. I think Affleck could pull it off. He even might make a good Stu.

This would be a stretch for Ben Affleck and would be good for him to try a movie on this scale. I was very impressed with The Town. Now his old mate Matt Damon has done Contagion, might be time for Affleck to take on a global pandemic.

Would really suit the more restrained kind of acting he's been doing lately. I'd see Renner as Randall Flagg. I also think Affleck would do a great job of capturing the nostalgic Americana of the whole thing, as long as he has a good special effects advisor/team to steer him in that department. This is a damn fun film to dream cast!
