Went along on Saturday and though it was superb. Have read a few reviews here and there and am still shocked to read people making complaints about Brown's voice, why?! Yea he is off key half the time, but no Stone Roses fan is under any delusion that he is a great singer. A great vocal isnt really the point here is it? The set list was pretty much what you would expect and the crowd reaction seemed to build and build for each song, and despite a lot of twats (to be expected, but some really annoying pricks under the impression everyone wanted to know how much coke they were doing - youre in your 50's, grow the fuck up!!) the atmosphere was pretty damn special. In the area i was stood (front pit, centre stage, in front of the lighting) there was a real sense of joy as Fools Gold played and played and played. A real highlight of the night for me. Other aspects were just as good, Beady Eye wernt awful and the two Oasis tracks went down a storm. The Wailers were great too. I thought the bar down the front was pretty well organised actually, compared to previous big outdoor gigs (heaton park, finsbury park, lccg, wembley etc) and festivals, and in another highlight of the day i found myslef queuing for beers and chatting with Merry and Pippin (Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan) in the pissing rain. All in all, a top top weekend.
