I've literally just got off the phone with Adobe. They're trying to recreate the problem at their end. We think it's only people who have bought subscriptions in the last week or so. I hope to have an update first thing tomorrow!

Sorry for the colossal cock up. It's a pain in the arse that we can't sort these issues out in-house but sadly Adobe are the only ones who can fix it. The new issue will be available in the next couple of days and yes, subs only persist from the current issue but if you've purchased the sub already then it should cover 12 issues starting with the Prometheus one.

If you delete and reinstall the app then Adobe have said it will all work.

Long and boring answer: you need to pre-allocate in-app purchase items with Apple and we submitted a new batch a week ago. unbeknownst to us, subscriptions bought in that time (the last week or so) attached to the in-app purchase items instead of the issue currently on sale (there was a better way of doing it that we weren't aware of) and that's what caused the problem.

Of course, another problem is that Apple STILL haven't approved them and until they do we can't actually publish the June issue (which is otherwise finished!!!) But that's a whole different headache that I'm going to get into tomorrow.

It's done but we can't publish it until Apple approve the new version of the app (with retina support) so we're now stuck in a holding pattern until they give us the green light. I'm hoping it will be imminent but... well, it's Apple so you just can't say.

Hi James I was just wondering when the update goes out to enable retina support will the back issues be retina enabled or will it just be the June issue onwards?

Also is there any word on paper subscriptions being able to download the iPad edition yet?

June issue onward, I'm afraid. Although we've found a way to reduce file sizes a little so even the HD one will only be about 700MB (the SD one will be smaller).

No update on subs - much to my eternal exasperation! Hopefully soon, though (an update, that is).

Thanks for getting back so quickly, shame about the back issues not being retina enabled as I was hoping to see that Prometheus issue in perfect quality oh well.

This is about the 6th edition that hasn't been online at the same time as the print edition is released and it's always, Adobe or Apple's problem? It's James' department, so if it isn't his fault it is certainly his responsibility. Don't have these waits with GQ, Project, T3, etc. Empire is supposed to be 'The World's Best Movie Magazine' but their support for iPad customers is far from world class... and don't even get me started on the price!

Little bit peeved at mo. just subscribed for 6 months and still no sign of the Skyfall edition being available to download. Only purchase and subscribe which I've clearly done already. Looking through posts thisis not a new problem.. I've tried all the suggested fixes and none work. I'm not prepared to wait until the next issue as that would be a full month which means I would only actually get a 5 month subscription having paid for 6.

I'd really like some help either on how to fix the problem or to cancel the subscription to get a full refund and preferably from someone who works for Empire as your customer service reputation seems to be suffering here as much as the loyalty of fans to the mag..

Hi James, I've been looking through this forum and it looks like a number of people have had the same problem as me. I took out a 12 month subscription yesterday but the latest Skyfall edition only shows up as a 'Buy' option in the app. On the advice above, I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling it - same result unfortunately. Please can you advise what I can do? I shall likely download the Skyfall edition anyway, so it would be nice if somehow my subscription could be extended by another month.

HI, Can u help at all,

I had Empire on my Ipad through Newsstand, it has now vanished and I can't reinstall it, whatever link I use to try and reinstall it from it always says 'installed@ whether it is through the App Store, Purchased links etc!!!

Hello,

My empire subscription automatically renewed (got an itunes receipt) but when i go into newstand it tells me the latest issue is out but its asking me to subscribe again? Any idea how to fix this?

That's... odd. The only thing I can suggest is that old chestnut of reinstalling the apps and pressing the restore purchases button (it's the restart/refresh of iPaddom).
