so the new season started last night. what did eveyone think of it ?

a decent start - it's a nice change to see stefan acting so evil - though he seems to regret it all.

the ending was a surprise with tylers mom attacking caroline. wasn't expecting that.

wonder where the jeremy seeing ghosts storyline is going.

Why would Stefan kill two women and then a third? (In his brothers gf.) Klaus thinks Elena is dead so he's not doing it to protect her.  Wouldn't killing the news reporter make Damon want revenge? How would that keep him away? Yet even with these plot holes it was still enjoyable.  Stefan isn't Angel so if he has turned evil it doesn't make sense and if he feels bad he's killed innocent people.  Hu?

Did you see series 2? Stefan agreed to do whatever Klaus asked of him in order to save his brother. So that's the explanation as to why he's gone bad. As for killing off the reporter. No I don't think so. She was a bit of fun, he looked sad she'd died but it wasn't on the same level as Rose. Saying that he loves Elena so all these other gals are just passing ships. It makes sense Stefan turning evil. That was the point of the deal he made, he had to sacrafice his humanity to save Damon. I don't get the confusion.

It makes no sense.  Angel for example lost his soul, went bad.  Stefan has chosen to be bad, to save his brother, someone he couldn't stand a few episodes back.  Killing innocent people makes it all right that he's trying to save Damon, err no.  The character has lost the audiences sympathies (so far...)

Well I think thats the point. They may well be bringing him down a road he won't come back from or at least not without some great sacrafice. Also why compare to Angel? He's hardly the go to rule book when it comes to how good vampires gone bad should behave. Mayeb Stefan just gets off on killing people, somthing VD has hinted at throughout most of the 3 series so far. You have been watching from the start right??? Or you just in denail he's gone bad and don't like it??

I don't care whether he's bad or good I just like the scripts to make sense.  If something had happened to turn him bad like a spell or something, fair enough.  It would be far better if Klaus forced him to do these things.

And Angel is a much better show, that's why I chose that example.

Makes sense to me. He made a deal to save his brother. Klaus is too powerful (for now) to go back on that deal. Simple.

He could allow him to Kill Damon.  And himself.  Rather than killing people.

i agree i thought that exact same thing - wouldn't killing his girlfreind just piss him off and make him go after him for revenge rather than convince him to stay away. stefan has no one else to hurt / kill anyone else would hurt elena which stefan obviusly still wouln't do.

Much better this week although I'm not sure that I buy Elena's feelings for Stefan.  He's murdered two werewolf girls and she's not bothered at all.

yeah really good last ep now we know why klaus wanted stefan beacuse they knew each other before and stefan was in love with his sister.

wonder if they bring back sebastien roches detective character somehow?? wouldn't of thought they'd cast someone known like that for a 2 minute cameo.

Another great episode, very well written.  I didn't know it was Catherine at the end until she showed up at the door.  Awesome fight between Damon and Caroline.  I still don't understand Stefan's character - he's killing innocent women to protect Elena.  Still a dick move.

It's some bullshit cop out move they're doing with Stef. They've got him killing people when he's really in control. All for the love of Elena... and Damon. So no matter, he'll be the hero. Always the martyr. ::yawn:: The thing is if he really did lose himself in the murder and killing because of he's so called human blood addiction/issues (remember they even showed us some of that in previous seasons?) I'd be up for it. It'd be more compelling for the character. Now? Blah.

But still, in general, loving their work.

Why can't the writers see how full of plotholes this is!

1 Klaus tells Stefan to taste Elena (he can't stop so she should be dead)
2 Matt drowns himself and then sees Vickie.  Come on, who would actually do that? The characters don't seem to care about life
in this show.  How many times has Elena said, just kill me!
3 Catherine is gonna wake Michael up who will kill any Vampire - surely worse than Klaus?
4 She gives the necklace to Damon when Klaus is looking for it
5 Klaus leaves without killing Damon, leaving Elena with him

So dumb and yet despite all that it was exciting, like a season finale.

Don't worry - Klaus gets his commuppance (or however you spell it) in Immortals (more painful in 3D).

This week's episode was severly lacking in Matt Davis.  I know it's a silly-soapy-teen show but it is still entertaining.

really enjoying this still it keeps getting better & better. really looking forward to the michael character i'm presuming katherine thinks she'll have a way to convince him not to kill her.

also i thought that damon stole the necklace back from her - not that she just gave it back. i could be wrong though.

Wasn't expecting Mason to show up at the end there and got a huge cheer from me after he was unceremoniously killed by Damon early last season.

Another strong episode, the pacing continues to be fantastic and the creators are doing an excellent job of using their cast, even Matt who's probably one of the more supeflous characters got a moving storyline in these past few episodes with ghost vicki showing up.

This show reminds me of early Heroes before it went downhill, both shows tend to get rid of a lot of guest stars to keep things fresh but the main difference is the core characters on TVD are better developed and far more likable than on Heroes. The likes of the Petrellis, Matt Parkman and HRG were too dull to focus on in the latter series and as such lost viewers, whereas on this show they continue to find new ways to make the dynamic between the main characters interesting and develop the likes of Caroline and Tyler into strong characters.

I'd stake a claim to say this is one of the most underrated series on TV, granted I'm not expecting it to be considered for the emmys or golden globes but the pacing is terrific, the vampires are suitably nasty without going resorting to the gory excess of true blood, the story constantly moves and they manage to almost always hit the right emotional beats for the characters.

Yeah, it's underrated.

Heroes... hahaha! This has had 2.5 good seasons! Heroes had one!

Anyway... I'm not going to spoil it for the ITV2 viewers, but I was surprisingly disappointed with the mid season finale. The cliffhanger (there's a cliffhanger at the end of every episode so I don't think that's a spoiler!) seemed forced and pointless. Back in a few weeks to discuss!

I agree.  Spoilers, you should have all seen it by now.  Is Katherine dead then?

Why would Elena save Stefan after all the innocent people he's killed? It's getting dumb now.

Edited because Catherine is spelt with a K.

It happened on this weeks ITV2 episode

If you're on this thread you should have seen it by now (as I already pointed out above.)  If you've seen the ep you should already know about Katherine unless you watched it with your eyes closed.

Hahaha! I will not spoil you lot!

I guess you shouldn't ask leading questions like "Is Katherine dead?!".

I don't get how they can alienate Damon for killing people (even when he's been on their side killing folk) and let Stef get away with things. He was killing people over the summer (and Andi!) while he was in total control. We've seen that it wasn't the ripper that they've been harping on about. He wasn't compelled either. I'm sure they'll forgive him pretty quickly. Double standards!
