Some people liked Southland Tales! Just because you either a) didn't understand it because you hadn't been following the comic books, or b) couldn't appreciate the trashy style and casting choices as a comment on the growing influence of lowbrow pop culture on political rhetoric - does not mean it was the disaster you make it out to be. Sure it suffered from horrendous delays and multiple edits, but there are still many of us out there who see Southland Tales as a brave, cult classic that combines expert satirising of post-9/11 America and bizzarro science-fiction. I thought it was a brilliant follow-up to Donnie Darko, and if Upstream Color has half the balls of Southland, I know I'm going to love it.
