Weird. Especially after what he said DIDN'T actually justify war crimes. Yet another reason why i have an acute, albeit slightly irrational, hatred of the French.

So you can get fined and even arrested for saying the wrong thing(something that the majority at the time doesn't agree),it doesn't mean there is no freedom of speech in France...wait...
How do stand up comedians not get arrested in France?That's right,I don't know any.

This is absolute bullshit. He didn't justify any war crimes. He just made a joke. And the joke wasn't even about war crimes, but about Hitler himself. As I remember it, I thought he said that he didn't have sympathy for the guy, but that he understood him. Even if it wasn't a joke, it would still be a normal thing to say. I don't know what's wrong with understanding another person, even if that person did some of the worst crimes ever committed. In fact, he wasn't even persuading other people to understand Hitler, and he himself never did anything wrong to other people. If the French authorities have such high morals, they'd better apply them to themselves. They are the ones who were so hurried to go to war in Libya.

bit random but i can see where he is comin from. if they twist his words he il just not say anything to them, this is a very adult handling of the situation. ( unlike the french)

Saying youre a Nazi will get you kicked out and declared persona non grata, but being a convicted rapist (Polanski) and child predator (Allen) is not a problem. What a country!

So who exactly are the ones acting like Nazis here? Looks like there's no such thing as free speech anymore.

And agree wholeheartedly talksense with regards to fugitive from justice and convicted rapist Roman Polanski. Somehow he's OK but a few ill-judged remarks are not? Sheesh.

Worlds gone mad, he made a comment that OK some people may find offensive and that's a crime against humanity, it was a joke that got lost in translation. There are far worse things going on in the world that the police could be dealing with than nonsence like this.
