Here's our entry!

THE GOLDEN PINT
BY LAURA STEVENS & LEO WILLIAMSON

With countless movie awards, we wanted to create a unique award that Empire could own. Film reels, stars, clapper boards... it’s all been done before.

‘Pint of milk’ is a famous feature in Empire magazine, so we created ‘The Golden Pint’ which embodies Empire’s cheeky humour. The award is easy to hold and will result in some funny photos of the winners embracing the pint bottle.

We think the trophy is timeless because your pint of milk feature is iconic to Empire magazine.

Having seen the Golden Pint, I wish I hadn't spent so long on this now - that's brilliant

Oh well, you never know!

Obviously I'm no design student but the idea is to have a textured slab with silver screen bearing the titles and an etched iconic scene still from the movie in question.

Thought I'd go with something a little different on this one, why just have Ema, when she can bring James along

Ideally, I'd have the hands holding the clapper board by the bottom corner, giving a little more space for the logo

You wouldn't believe how long this took me.
I've left it as the basic design so it could be any colour but I think a brushed metal or reflective chrome would look good. 'Empire' is in relief and the base would be elliptical, rather than circular. Don't know why I'm bothering though, the golden pint has obviously won - I'm just hoping we all get Blue Peter badges for trying

Indeed that is really quite brilliant in its simplicity. Wish I'd thought of it.

They only said they'd choose it on Friday, but still, the suspense is killing us!

@babsybuck, I LOVE your display picture =P

and has the winner been decided yet? or am I just dumb for not being able to read the competition winner post properly?

(in my defense, it is nearly 2am)

It's all gone a bit quiet, hasn't it? I can't seem to find anything about the winner having been announced anywhere either...

Well, apparently they've now chosen a winner, which will be unveiled at the 2012 award show. Like a lot of people, I sent my entry in to the direct email rather than putting it up on the forum (When I sent it in, the only thing up here was the "mic and 2 reels of film"...).

So... rather belatedly, here's my entry which didn't win it. She's called The Empress, and she's meant to represent celluloid coming to life. I made the maquette from Sculpey, and finished it with pewter paint cos I thought Gold looked a bit naff.

I'm no expert in awards design (as is evident by my entry) but I really like this, quite art nouveau-y

Since it was nobody here, who did win the design prize?  And why was their design chosen?
