ORIGINAL: directorscut And The Darkness has sold 1.5M units to date. The difference isn't the platform. 360 and PS3 might add one or two million to SC2's sales. The difference is that Call of Duty is a more popular franchise (sadly). Catering to multiplatform is no guarantee of success. Dragon Age - a throw back to old school PC RPGS ported to consoles sold well over 5 million. DA2, a consolised piece of garbage hasn't sold half of that. This is a big audience for more old school RPGs and strategy games out there. Expecting every game to sell like Call of Duty is like expecting every movie to match Avatar - fecking ridiculous. I don't actually disagree with most of this and yes, expecting every game or movie to sell like Call Of Duty or Avatar is ridiculous, but that's not going to stop the powers that be from trying to replicate that success or at the very least cash-in on the trend, hence the market gets flooded with FPS games and blockbusters receive rush-job 3D conversions left, right and centre. It's just the way it is, it might pay off, it might not, but they obviously think (not unfairly) that their best shot lies with a similar product.
