Basically I'm copying Snake, DK and Daz so....yeah. I wanted a piece of the action so here are my favourite 21 films! Why 21? Simple really, there are 2 films I couldn't seperate so they both appear in the list. I'm not the best writer in the world but I'll try and I apologise in advance for the over-use of the word 'awesome'.

I can't remember actually mentioning what my favourite film is so theres some suspense for anybody who's actually interested.

So to kick this thing off we have...

21. Bad Boys II

“We ride together, we die together. Bad Boys for life.”

Haha! I bet you weren’t expecting this so low? Well to be honest I would have put it at number 2 but I needed to start with something awesome so no matter how much I love it and I really do love this film I’ll put it all the way back here. I’ll get the whole nobody does action like Michael Bay out of the way early so here we go...There’s something beautiful in the destruction Michael Bay is capable of. There’s no other director that can handle the sheer scale of chaos and mayhem Bay can create and I think BBII is the best he’s come up with etc.

Anyways, I want to give a quick mention our 2 leads because in Will Smith and Martin Lawrence we have 2 guys with excellent chemistry and without that chemistry the film would die on its arse quite frankly, so many scenes that tickle me from dead titties to video store confessions. I could quote this film all day long and I know you all love it too, secretly somewhere inside you...”Shit just got real”. Now the action! Wow. Bay excelled himself here from the opening, the freeway chase to the pink house and that’s like the first 40 minutes. There’s so much going on and it is all amazing, my personal favourite being the pink house shoot-out, badass 360 degree camera movements and all. I could go on and on but I’d like to keep these short so basically watch Bad Boys II cos it’s ace.

Excited yet?

Sorry, but no film with that wanker Martin Lawrence deserves to be on any favourites list.

Pffft. You know nothing, Fast Five is that dirty one night stand while Bad Boys II is that life long love story you are desperate for Dev.

Silas, I'd normally agree but the Bad Boys films are the only occasion you can admit to liking Martin Lawrence without needing a shower afterwards.

I remember in 2003, everyone was banging on about the 'Freeway Chase' in that second 'Matrix' film - it just f**king BORED me. The freeway chase in BAD BOYS II was frakkin' SICK! Crazy, gun-totin' Rastas throwing cars! YEEAAHHH!!!

I was always a wee bit gutted that Mark Mancina's AWESOME score from the first film never made it into the sequel...

20. Vanishing Point

“Hey Kowalski, you out there?”

Loaded on “Ups” Kowalski bets he can drive from San Francisco to Denver in 15 hours and thats the simple set-up to the greatness that is Vanishing Point.

Cool. That’s how I would describe Vanishing Point. You got the roar of that gorgeous 70 Dodge Challenger (best car ever) acting as your soundtrack across the desert highways of America, speed is freedom here. What we have is basically a 90 minute chase film that the action directors of today wouldn’t have the patience to pull off. We are spoiled with beautiful cinematography with wide shots, shots that last for more than a second and we still get that sense of speed and danger without the need for editing tourettes. I remember watching this with my mate on one his movie nights as a double bill with Easy Rider, he’s an Easy Rider kinda guy but I’m all about Kowalski and his badass adventure across California. If you’ve not seen Vanishing Point before I highly recommend you get your hands on it.

Yeah the Bad Boy films are wank. Sorry...

The Vanishing Point is a very interesting choice, I too love the car and the cinematography and it has a great soundtrack and it pulls off it's concept quite well. However I found Barry Newman wooden and I have problems with it's representation of various people. I also thought the flashbacks were, umm cheesy? I should probably point out that I'm not a fan of Easy Rider either.

Looking forward to the rest of the list.

Vanishing Point is awesome, would make my top 100 fairly comfortably.

Its great that we have people making new lists and new blood in this section by the way. Weird that no-one wanted to do it untill snake-eyes did it first though, were you all sat around thinking "oh i would post a list but what will they all think of me?"

Not a fan of the flashbacks either they are definitely of the cheesy variety, same goes for the random encounters Kowalski has. It nearly turns into some weird existential road trip and almost ruins the pace but we recover by the end.

Can't speak for anyone else but I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested which is clearly unfair on you guys. I tend to speak alot of arse when I write a long review so I didn't wanna come here just to post a picture with "ITS AWESOME!!!" as a caption then move on....that and I read that Miles fellas thread for a while and it scared me if I'm honest.

That would still be better than Swords' reviews, to be fair.

And, yes, Miles is a deepy scary person with a thread for only the hardiest of souls.

19. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

“Yeah, just ain’t no peace with ol’ Jesse around. You ought to pity my poor wife.”

I’m was questioning myself for ages whether to put Assassination of Jesse James in my list or not because I’ve only seen it once but that’s all it took me to fall in love with this beautiful and haunting film. I can’t quite describe how pretty this film is, you have to see it for yourself. Its hypnotic stuff I tells ya! Roger Deakins has done a phenomenal job here with the train robbery that starts the film being a stand out moment, it's awesome. If you have the patience it’s a rewarding film to sit through but if not you can just admire the pretty pictures (I make it sound like a chore but it’s not. Honest). The performances from all the cast are great with Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck (Ford is a fucking weasel) and the awesome Sam Rockwell being the best of a very good bunch for me.

Awesome choice, one of my very own favourite films. It slipped out of my Top Ten this year but remains quite highly placed, for me it's one of the best of the previous decade. It's also Brad Pitt's finest hour.

The Assassination of Jesse James is a magnificent film. I'd post a full review of it on here, one so well written that it would make Matty_b weep, but I don't want to embarrass him in front of you all.

I'm watching the next entry now and right now I'm think it should be much higher...Anyway here it is.

18. District 9

“I would never have any pornographic relations with a fokkin' creature!"

There have been loads of Alien invasion films over the years and they all follow the basic aliens are bad pattern. District 9 doesn’t follow that which is why it’s such a refreshing change from the normal invasion flicks so instead we get a smart, stylish sci-fi thriller bursting with ideas and I bloody loveit. I walked out of the cinema thinking “Fuck! That was awesome” and I went and bought another ticket for the next showing. Theres swagger and confidence in the direction thats hard to believe it was Blomkamps first film, the action is visceral and at times funny (500mph pig!), the transition from documentary to ‘normal film’ is handled so well I didn’t even notice it at first... Sharlto Copley gives one hell of a performance, Wikus is a huge dick to begin with (he’s hilarious though!) then he goes through some ‘changes’ and we start to feel sorry for the poor fella.
Theres loads of scope here on a small budget, the FX are great. The ‘prawns’ themselves are cool, and those weapons are awesome. I can’t wait to see what Elysium is all about because if District 9 is anything to go by we are in for a treat.

DISTRICT 9 was one of the few Science Fiction films of recent years that actually lived up to the hype. I hope Neil Blomkamp can deliver the goods again with ELYSIUM. Good choice Scottie!

District 9 is a corker. I was very lucky that I went into it completely unspoiled (I knew it was about aliens, but that's about it) and had no expectations.I heard at the time that a sequel was in the planning stages. Any word on this yet?

District 9 is amazing - I had no idea just how good it was. Copley was fantastic, I thought he was overlooked at the Oscars that year.
