Even though I'm not involved in the round, my thoughts in the hope that they may sway those of you looking to please the masses.

The Exorcist - Incredible, spine-chilling piece of filmmaking. Love it.
The Fly - Fantastic, Goldblum fires on all cylinders and the special effects are by far some of the best I've ever seen in a film.
The Fog - It's given a lot of shit, but I agree with Rebel Scum - the atmosphere is key and the film's drenched in it. There are some silly moments, but when that fog rolls in, shit gets creepy.
My Little Eye - I like it, but it wasn't as tense as I hoped it would be and it gets a bit silly at the end. Also good job Homer spoiling the awesome cameo
Session 9 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz5ODQCueP8
The Thing - Fucking hell matty you're persistent about getting this in (that's what she said)

Haven't seen the others. Kind of glad I didn't throw my lot in - it's an excellent line-up, but I would've just nominated In the Mouth of Madness and it would be a Carpenter overload.

Haven't seen The Fly in years, but it suffers from being a less than worthy contender in the Davis/Goldblum collaboration than the quite frankly awesome Transylvania 6-5000

Fixed.

The Haunting > The Haunting remake

But that's not saying much!

Have we had a horror HOF before? I don't remember it.

Could have sworn we'd had one, but looking through all the old threads, apparently not.

Title amended accordingly.

The only specials we've had so far were Christmas and shorts. We did talk about it a lot, and we were going to do the horror one last year, but the timing wasn't right for Halloween.

On that note, not sure if it's come up yet on the thread, but can everyone please try and keep to the deadlines for this round? With the Christmas one, when we run over into the new year it felt like people were losing interest because we were out of the season, so we planned the deadlines for this round to be able to actually announce the winner on Halloween night. So if you're having troubles finding films or anything, let us know as early as possible, please?

The only one I suspect I might have to beg, borrow or steal a copy from someone is Possession as it's the only one I'm currently relying on LoveFilm for. If they don't send it by the beginning of October I'll let you know. It also helps that I've either watched a few of these films this year and last or that I have firm opinions on them that haven't changed in years.

Deep Red, The Fly, Hour Of the Wolf, My Little Eye, The Fog and Session 9 have been added to Lovefilm. Does anybody know if they exist on youtube?

Ah feck. Just realised that Possession is 1 - 2 month delivery on Amazon. I'm wondering if Second Sight were affected by the Sony fire as well.

From the general news reports it seems that just about every independent label in this country was affected in some way. I cant find anything to confirm that Second Sight were hit, but they are based in London so its probably quite likely.

I have just had a quick look around. Play & HMV are both showing it as in stock and dispatched within 24 hours. MovieMail also have some stock and ship within 2 days.

LoveFilm don't have it listed as either a short wait or long wait, so it looks like that might be the best bet for it.

Nicely done there. I get the feeling people should jump on Possession early though, just in case availability does become difficult.

I've decided I'm going to vote in order of scariness in this round.

It looks like the Argento's might also be a problem. From looking around it seems that Play is probably the best bet for those as well.

The blu-ray of Deep Red seems ok, assuming people can play blu-rays. Suspiria might be an issue.

Feck it.

Now we know the true horror of the riots - the HoF is compromised!!

For the three affected films, I'd say the best solution if you haven't seen them is to jump on them asap until we know any more about the situation. Hopefully they'll be titles that'll be reprinted quite quickly if they were affected by the fire, but for now, I'd say to assume the worst and just watch them on Youtube, find the cheapest possible copy you can, or make them your highest priority on your rental lists.

A good place to check is in the library - now you can search the county/city catalogue online, and they may have it in stock, so you can rent it out through there. I've just done a search in my local one and have found Suspiria.

Well fine then. It's still an awesome surprise and you just ruined it for everyone. You monster.

Ah, but the library does not offer a delivery option, and everyone knows that nobody involved in the HoF ever goes outside.

I think you may be overselling it. It's Bradley Cooper fer feck's sake. I think I went, "huh" in a vaguely surprised tone when I rewatched it.

This tiff aside, My Little Eye is a wee gem.
