The Haunting - A masterpiece. Terrifying and it would be a worthy winner, but do we really want rawlinson to win two HoFs in a row?

Fuck yeah we do.

'barb didn't want me to win the audio HoF, you don't want me to win this, I feel unloved. That's not an invitation, before you ask. No means no, Matty. No means no.

Great choice guys.....

Deep Red (Argento, 1975) - This will struggle alongside Suspiria
The Exorcist (Friedkin, 1973) - One of 70's best horrors but I am not a huge huge fan!
The Fly (Cronenberg, 1986) - Love this film with passion.
The Fog (Carpenter, 1980) - Bollocks, one of my all time fav's.....may need to vote this above my one!
The Haunting (Wise, 1963) - Had this for 1 only a month ago, great film just glad its not the remake
Hour of the Wolf (Bergman, 1968) - The one I do not own!
The Invisible Man (Whale, 1933) - Great film........
My Little Eye (Evans, 2002) - Great pick!  Everything Halloween Resurrection wished it could be!
Possession (Zulawski, 1981) - Not seen this in an age!  Have to check if I got it....sure I have!
Session 9 (Anderson, 2001) -
Suspiria (Argento, 1977) - No guesses who picked this!
The Thing (Carpenter, 1982) -Outstanding, but I love The Fog more!

Really good guys, thrilled with these!  Knowing the love of The Thing on here I say that was the Fav at the moment.  As long has my pick gets some love my job is done

I have a lot more unwatched films than normal

The Exorcist - It does have an awful start, but after that its excellent.
The Fly - Just reminds me how much I need to see some more of Cronenbergs films.
The Fog - A bit disappointing really. I am a big fan of Carpenter, but this is one which just didnt work for me. I would probably put it about 8/9th out of the 16 films of his I have seen
The Invisible Man - Decent, but a long way short of the best Universal Horror has to offer.
The Thing - The likely winner, and deservedly so. Nearly as obvious an attempt to win as Ikiru.

Wot wot wot!!!!

Tbh I do see it as slightly different from the other ones - it centres so much on the actual character and the descent into madness, it becomes somewhat unconvential with just such a wonderful lead performance.

For some reason it just didnt stay with me at all. I think I had it down as Rains putting in a great performance, but the film generally lacking any of the great scenes or imagery which normally stand out in the Universal Horror films.

I had considered putting Bride of Frankenstein in for this hof, but I thought it might make the selection look a bit limited if there were 2 Argento, 2 Carpenter and 2 Universal Horror.

I'm hoping the first 2 cancel each other out and fall at the first hurdle

Maybe your rewatch will improve Invisble Man for you? If not, just have fun and watch the Vincent Price sequel too.

Oh I certainly hope the rewatch helps. I was quite glad to see it nominated actually.

Didnt know about the sequel, but yeah I might. I wont watch the Carpenter this time though

I'm actually thinking The Fly might be. I always rated it below Rabid, Shivers, Crimes of the Future, Videodrome, etc, but it's getting a lot of love so far.

Thats hardly the same. For a start the number of nominations is a lot less. Then there is also the fact that the ahof voters cant pick the correct album.

The Haunting has two of my all-time scariest moments in cinema - I saw it twice around New Years (once when I was avoiding a family party when I was a kid so sitting in the dark in the other room) and it scared the bejesus out of me.

I can't help it if all of you are sexually repressed.  So anyway, I was saying, I've won an audio and film HoF. Just pointing that out Mr. "I've won two HoFs." Although since you've come on board as a lifetimer, only lifetime members have won the HoF. You're good luck.

I'm going to give you my throughts even though they don't count for very much anymore

Deep Red - Is great, I saw it for the first time this year. Is there any preference as to which cut people watch?
The Exorcist - seems to get better each time I see it.
The Fly - I, erm, prefer to Vincent Price one.
The Fog - like TRM, its not my favourite Carpenter, but its still Carpenter.
The Haunting - Not seen it
Hour of the Wolf - Not seen, though I like the sound of it.
The Invisible Man - Not seen it, but I quite like the James Whale I have seen.
My Little Eye - Not seen it
Possession - I thought I had seen it but I don't think i have now.
Session 9 - Not seen.
Suspiria - Is absolutely brilliant, and would be a finalist for me.
The Thing - Is absolutely brilliant and is probably my favourite Carpenter.

Haven't seen The Fly in years, but it suffers from being a less than worthy contender in the Davis/Goldblum collaboration than the quite frankly awesome Earth Girls Are Easy.
