So I have The Haunting and The Invisible Man left to watch. Won't get them done by tonight, but I'll have my votes sent by midday tomorrow (once I've looked to see how others have voted and then do my list accordingly)

We'd already been told about a day's extension that was needed, so that's fine.

There really is no chance of me just sending a list of 4 films, is there?

That's the worst part!

A seemingly non-stop screaming match that goes....on.....FOREVER and Sam Neill giving a phenomenally awful performance.

It improves a little after that, but on the whole, I thought it pretty much sucked.

I'm trying to decide whether to make a public vote.

What is counting against me is that I've not seen all the films. So I really shouldn't. But I do have a clear favourite out of the ones I have seen and I have an inkling that it might be struggling to get through this round.

It's appreciated when people do watch every film before voting in the public poll, but I think it's realistic to say some people probably don't. So I wouldn't let it hold you back.

Being crazy and enjoying someones ludicrous face doesn't make it any less right. On a more serious topical note having had a mini Carpenter festival last month I can safely say Possession is ten times the film The Thing is. I was left massively underwhelmed by it, I liked the opening Wolf vs. Helicopter but after that? I really felt like I was missing something, perhaps it's that I didn't care what happened to any of the cast. I really liked the special effects, disgusting as they are, though I did laugh uproariously when the one dude* is being chomped down. However I feel the film sacrifices character and an decent plot for shocks and bloody effects.

*unlike say Alien in which I can identify and have some emotions for that cast of characters, no one in The Thing apart from Kurt stands out.

Sorry, are we talking Possession now, or The Thing?

Russell may be the only standout (which I would disagree with personally, but let's run with it) at least none of the others descend into the eye rolling histrionics that Neill is guilty.

Honestly, you wouldn't see that kind of crap at an am-dram society...

Well it was nice to be Hot for a few days at least.

I know it's an unpopular opinion not loving The Thing but I don't.

In terms of film I would choose Possession every time it's a film I can watch again and again, The Thing took a couple of attempts. In terms of horror The Thing wins but only because I don't see Possession as a complete horror. Despite the seemingly endless blood on everyone in Possession and it's heightened insanity and shocks I think it commendably handles both whilst also offering a little bit more, thrills, politics and memorable ham performances from Sam and Isabelle. I find it massively entertaining whenever I watch it far more than Carpenters Thing.

Which other 3 have you watched?

Best thing about Session 9 is the Danvers building.

The Big Four are The Haunting, Possession, Hour of the Wolf, and Session 9. All a bit cack.

I would have to disagree but understand them not being for everyone, they are all pretty different though (the exception being your dislike for them) so I'm surprised none of them appealed.

Apart from The Exorcist (great choice) and The Thing have you seen any of the others?

Well, yeah, the deadline is tonight, so I've seen them all...

The Fog, The Fly, and My Little Eye I'd seen before and really like, love, and like, respectively. The two Argentos are curiosities, but I'm going to give them another go. The Invisible Man is just lol. And not in a good way. But it was at least enjoyably bad. That covers the rest, I think.

I thought Session 9 was actually OK. It just got a bit muddled and it was never really that scary or creepy.
