So... I had the Thai DVD release of The Longest Nite for a month before I checked it. That's a very short amount of time for me - as mentioned previously, I have some DVDs still sat there after 18 months to 2 years that have still never seen the inside of a DVD player.
Anyway, when I checked it, I found that despite what it says on the DVD cover, it doesn't have any English subs, just Thai ones. Great.

So I contacted the store and they offered to send me another film instead of a roughly equivalent price. I plumped for the Thai dvd release of:

The Show Must Go On. Quite how wise this was remains to be seen, but it's on the way!

As for The Longest Nite, I've found some fansubs (cheers elab) and when I get some time, I'll hopefully be able to burn a copy of the film with the fansubs on.

Beyond that debarcle, these two arrived:

Plus some pressies from the US:

I know! don`t give me any either  But I posted on that forum that I ordered the Happy together blu-ray. And one member replied that he`d received 2 copies while only paying for one and said that I could have one!!
So I cancelled my order at dvdpacific and he sent me his second copy

Received another package (without customs charges!!) from Barnes & Nobles:

Suprised to see it`s the first print digipack.

I was questioning how wise I was for buying another Thai release of a non-Thai film and risking it not having the alleged English subs. Guess I'll find out tonight....

Cool! Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Though I still haven't got round to watching No. 3 yet, which I really meant to....

I know you were catching up on Song Kang-ho movies a while back, elab. I think I've seen 11 to date, plus those 2 to watch and Secret Sunshine is high up on my want list.
Did you watch Bad Movie? Is he in it much?
And how about YMCA Baseball Team? And Antarctic Journal? Were they any cop?

Bad Movie is the only one I don't have I think.

YMCA is OK enough - it's a pretty standard sports film set-up though.
Antarctic Journal is a bit of a mess - Song is good and there are some pretty well done dramatic bits, but it's like the director hasn't got a clue what film it is he actually wants to make and tries to shoehorn in about 10 underwritten genres.

Reviews of Bad Movie seem to be fairly positive, though it's apparently a bit all over the place, and from what I've read, Song's role is limited.

Oh, and there are indeed English subs on my The Show Must Go On DVD, thank flipsy!

I recently won the Film4 World Cinema competition and recieved 28 modern World Cinema dvds. These were:

  • Katyn.
  • Gomorrah.
  • La Vie En Rose.
  • Waltz With Bashir.
  • Water Lilies.
  • La Haine.
  • The Lives of Others.
  • Downfall.
  • Life is Beautiful.
  • Pan's Labyrinth.
  • The Motorcycle Diaries.
  • The Three Colours Trilogy.
  • Y Tu Mama, Tambien.
  • Thirst.
  • Battle Royale II: Requiem.
  • The Beat That My Heart Skipped.
  • 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.
  • The Baader Meinhof Complex.
  • Black Book.
  • Mesrine: Killer Instinct & Public Enemy Number 1.
  • City of God.
  • Goodbye, Lenin!
  • Deficit.
  • The Edukators.
  • Amelie.

I haven't had a chance to watch them all yet, but the ones I have, have been absolutely fantastic. I'll probably recommend them all once I've watched them, haha.
