This thread is further proof that apes will take over the world. Good on 'em, I say.

Just saw this, easily the best film I've seen in a while. The effects are not 100% convincing, but they're definately believable as characters. Great stuff.

Also - a movie that wasn't shit but had the word "Rising" or something similar in the title? Amazing. Tom Felton though, why he is still being employed? The CG was more realistic.

The original Planet of the Apes is one of those films that I always thought about watching at some point, but never got around to it. Will get there eventually, I always enjoy some Charlton Heston.

With the exception of the brilliant 'Valhalla Rising' of course!

Yes Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an exceptional re-make/prequel, with superb effects and great Ape characters that engage you from start to finish. I was completely drawn and hooked on it from the start at the cinema and it is definately one of the best top 10 films of 2011. They need to hurry up and crack on with the sequel!

It's a shame Rupert Wyatt has dropped out as director, but luckily the writers have stayed on board. Here's hoping Serkis gets the directing gig.

Fantastic film. Heavily emotional, but in a non sledgehammer fashion, Serkis' performance is perfect, the man simply represents the ne plus ultra of performance capture, Gollum, Kong, Haddock..and this, jesus fucking christ the guy is good. The film is well directed, nice close ups of the apes, potent action scenes, good stuntwork and good cgi. I'll be honest and say I did shed a tear once or twice during the third act.
