A damn shame shame about Dredd not hitting big in the states. Its my favourite film of the year and would love to have some sequels to look forward to.Where the hell was the Expendabes audience? Dredd is one of the best old school hard core action movies in many years.

The worst part is that this will further convince studios that only 12 rated action movies are acceptable.Hope Dredd does better internationally and maybe it will be massive on dvd/blu.

Gutted to hear about Dredd in the States, that really sucks. This movie deserves to be a big hit.

That is a shame. I'm going to watch it for the third time tonight before it goes off at the cinema I work at. Absolutely love it, was really hopeful for a follow up.

The marketing for it in the States was terrible, almost barely non-existent.

It's a shame, there was something wonderfully Walter Hill/Peckinpah/Carpenter/Verhoeven vibes about it and I would have loved to see more sequels of it.

As usual I'm just gonna blame Stallone.

The Expendables, Part II has now passed the original's WW gross.

On it's way to $300 million.

Shame about Dredd, it deserves better, really is a top drawer action film. Hopefully the film can get an audience on DVD or get some kind of cult following, I really would love to see more films but I can't see it.

Disappointed in the yankies giving Dredd the cold shoulder too.

It's far from flawless, but it certainly deserves a lot more attention than it appears to be receiving (particularly when Resident Evil's already approaching the 40 million dollar mark). I wonder if the predominant 3D release had anything to do with the lowly numbers?

Maybe good word of mouth & a strong home-viewing share will eventually convince the money men to finance a sequel? Unlikely I would have thought, but you never know.

That's the sad thing really, as even though I had my reservations, it did set a good platform to go on & make better ones.

Dredds box office in the states increased by 30% between the Monday and Tuesday.

Good word of mouth getting around?

Hahahaha.

No.

Most films increase on Tuesday. Nothing special about it.

It made $7 million on Friday. There is no chance of it making $35 million.

Between $16-$22 million.

Dredd left the top ten. Ouch. Doubt it even hits 10M.

oh well it'll just have to join the likes of Thing 82, Blade Runner & Krull as one of those awesome cult films no one went to see

I think I'll go for about $23 million for Taken 2's opening, and $65 million finish.

Taken 2 lets see - Taken 1 = 24m opening. 145m US. 81m forgien = 226m ww

original caught audiences off guard and has become this big fun cult movie - especially on dvd (more so than any other recent action film), Liam Neeson reborn as an action star, endless quoteable lines, the famous particular set of skills speech, crazy action etc etc so second should do at least as well/abit better, but then again Unknown (aka Taken 2 in everything but name) and The Grey(aka Bryan Mills vs Wolves) were sort of made off the back of Taken and although had similar openings in US, overall didnt do anywhere near as well overall (Unknown = 21m opening/130m ww...Grey = 19m opening/77m ww), but then this is the proper sequel to Taken, and while reviews arent good they wernt for the first either (empires single star rating), plus fellow big name action films Bourne/Ex2 are doing fairly solid BO ...so based on that going with:
35m opening. 150m US. 150m forgien = 300m ww
(unless it goes like Rambo2/T2/Austin Powers2/Matrix Reloaded/TDK due to the cult appeal of the original and does something like 60m opening/250m US/200m forgien = 450m...but dont see that happening)
