Holy shit, Total Recall has bombed quite magnificently. Although it's far from the years biggest failure.

TDKR is now at $835m WW and is close to overcoming TDK's total foreign cume in just 4 weeks (and without the aid of China).

Prometheus is at $321m WW after opening in Germany. It still has Japan and Italy yet to open and some are reporting that Fox have secured a September opening for the film in China. Should easily breach my previous $340m total cume estimate.

This is the calm before the storm. You could say this weekend releases were a bit .... expendable.

Very solid start for Bourne but Total Recall...wow. I thought it looked OK but clearly audiences aren't interested in it.

if it does as well as Terminator 4 in Japan (33m) it could be looking at about $370m final total - which is what T4 did overall (125m in US/246m overseas) but with alot less budget (P= 130M, T4= 200m).

guess its now just a question of what RS wants to direct first - BR2 or P2 (hopefully P2)

Total Recall struggling to 110m - looks like original estimate of 150m ww wont be far off

It was released first in USA so all these interviews and premieres since are kind of awkward, seeing CF knowing that the film has flopped and still has to go around talking about how excited he is about the film, how good it is and to put on a brave face.


Oh well...at least Seven Psychopaths looks good.

TDKR finally passes the $1b mark and outgrosses TDK making it the biggest batman movie ww (although TDK is still biggest in US alone)

The Avengers passes $1.5b

Prometheus passes $350m - makes it biggest Alien (previously Alien - $328m ww when adjusted)

Delighted for both TDKR and Avengers.

I'm guessing TDKR will finish 9th on the all time list just behind Toy Story.

And without wishing to re-ignite the Spider-man debate I think it's posted some really strong numbers all things considered.

So with just Bond and The Hobbit to come for the really big players I think we can safely say that nothing is going to come close to the Avengers this year. The Hobbit will be big but I honestly don't see it getting anywhere near the Avengers.

 According to the cool cats at AVP Galaxy - box office from China was around $15M opening weeking for Prometheus. Look at it to end up around 20-30M. This puts it right with Star Trek 2009.

 TDKR crossed over the 1 billion mark at the weekend and is now officially the highest grossing Batman film ever.A terrific success and well deserved.

Probably not. Depends on Italy. If the holdovers drop 50% from now on out it would reach about $385. So it would need $15 million from Italy, which is in the (Not So) Amazing Spider-Man range.

Still it's had a pretty impressive last couple of weeks thanks to Asia considering it was hovering around $320 million for quite a while.


In other news The Expendables, Part II is set to cruise past the original's international tally, which makes its domestic gross all the more underwhelming.

 The Expendables 2 has now grossed $235,659,979 and counting.

i hope it makes $300 million mark so it would warrent a third film and if it does then it needs one man to boost the franchise and take it to the next level and that person is Dwayne Johnson
