Maybe it just isn't in full swing as catwoman yet. I mean even Batmans costume had to evolve so maybe this is like her 'rough draft' version. This'll be her near the start but if she get's into the swing of it, really into it, fully cat/bat style then it'll be like the crowning moment, part of her characters arc.

I'm just spitballing here but, in Nolan we trust right! :D

Pog has hit the nail on the head. I am pretty sure Selina Kyle, cat burglar has broken into Wayne Mansion and nicked Bruce's Batpod and Bat-goggles. So, this is not a Catwoman shot at all. It's a Selina Kyle shot and I like it. Read HUSH and The long Halloween folks. Put the knives away.

Yes, let's make the film so "realistic and grounded", that Catwoman doesn't even look like Catwoman anymore, just a woman with goggles! Never mind that she had a distinctive and awesome costume in Batman Returns, the cartoons and comics. While we're at it, let's get rid of the Batsuit entirely- It's not realistic enough!- and have Bruce Wayne running around with some goggles. Hell, let's give everyone goggles instead of costumes.

So if you were a filmmaker putting your own spin on and breathing new life into comicbook movie franchise that was dead, which interpretation of Catwomen from comics or film would you have this interpretation look like then ?
Answer is ......... None ! You would make her look fit the universe that you have created.

Also you can't even see the full suit or even know if this isnt just one of many different style suits she wears or if this suit is even version 1.0, so calm the fck down !

Any notice how the nose-piece of her goggles somewhat evoke the angular nature of the nose of Batman's cowl? And the dull ceramic sheen of the fames is also similar to that of the bat-suit.

It could be that batman gave her these riding goggles when be lent her the Batpod?

Re Jim and Spaldy. Newbs eh? Hadn't logged in all day as have been lurking in the Naughty Milkmaid. You haven't seen me yet Spaldron as I lurk with the best of them (all will be revealed asap) But I just had to log in after reading the article and comments. Might have known I'd find you 2 reprobates, bat-ing it up.

Sure, we have to trust Nolan; he hasn't exactly fucked up the franchise has he? On a purely personal note, and don't get me wrong, Cotillard and Hathaway are both great actresses and, well, they're not exactly pigs, but I always felt that Black Cat would have fitted in to the Nolan-world a little smoother. Or maybe I just prefer the character. At the risk of appearing contrary, I would have preferred Harley Quinn and maybe Green Arrow even? But hey, this franchise has a way to run yet. Where the next director will take it, who knows? If DC want to get the JLA stuff off the ground (a la Green Lantern et all) I can't see it staying so gothic. Thoughts?

ps-can we cut down on the grammar-nazism? This isn't a frikkin thesis y'all!!

Anne Hathaway is confirmed as Selina Kyle. Did anyone ever confirm that catwoman would appear in TDKR? Is it not possible that the character might appear without his/her alter-ego? It would be dissapointing but might explain this bland costume. I still have faith but Pfeiffer's portrayal & Ringwood's costume is a serious act to follow

I don't see anything Gothic about these films. And they're rebooting the Batman series after Dark Knight Rises so Warners can start again with a new director/look/approach and it's not going to have anything to do with the Nolan films.

Also on the grammar nazi point, we wouldn't have pulled him up on it if he would have given a well constructed intelligent point of view. But when you post on a thread saying something like "This movie is going to blow sack. Just like the previous two." Then there's no chance you're going to get a proper conversation or argument so why should we offer them that?

i think with how many tumblers there are about what she's riding wouldn't have to be the bat pod. it could easily be from one of the others, so possibilities are still open. but yeah, the goggles are stupid. hopefully she doesn't wear them all the time.
