the goggles threw me a bit at first, but to be honest, i do indeed trust in Nolan. I reckon she's just selina kyle here, and towards the end of the film she might do a Harvey Dent and become catwoman for the final act.

Hmmm... Will be very interesting to find out what's going on here! The goggles look very high-tech - like something else she's nicked (or been given, maybe?!) by Batman / Bruce Wayne. Could Batman be partnering up with her to begin with, and something happens that causes her to "go bad"?

TO BE FAIR SHE IS CALLED CAT WOMAN, THIS LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A FUCKING CAT, AND I CAN ONLY GUESS THE DARK KNIGHT RISES WILL BE A GOOD FILM BUT ITS OBVIOUS THAT CATWOMAN WILL PROBABLY SLOW DOWN THE FILM AND/OR EVEN DRAG IT DOWN, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS FILM.

Catwoman isn't necessarily bad, though.

Keep in mind people that she was announced as SELINA KYLE, and although that is the character who becomes Catwoman, it's not like she must be absolute CAT-LIKE! It's Nolan's take, and who knows, maybe this is an initial getup for her. She could put on cat ears as the movie progresses. As for the Batpod...it could be Batman's, or it could be one from the 3 other tumbler's that were on location. We saw Bane standing on an unaltered tumbler, and here we have Selina on a Batpod. Who knows what's going on.

I kinda like the goggles. They look practical, if not quite as stylish as the comic ones. It vaguely annoys me when the sexy cat theme gets in the way of her looking like a plausible master criminal anyway. One of the things we love about the Nolanverse is the way he makes all of this seem vaguely grounded in reality, so this looks pretty much as I'd expect.

I've heard rumours that they are sticking to the original comic book entry when she wasn't technically "Catwoman". Looks like those rumours may be completely true.

And I too believe that this is more of an introduction for Selina into becoming Catwoman. Don't forget how Bruce became Batman way back in Begins. He didn't even have a cape and cowl when he entered Gordon's office. Bear that in mind ;)

Bane's mask looks silly (in Nolan's Bat Universe) and these googles and leather look stupid. But I trust Nolan.

Hopefully it's just a case (much like the early pics of Thor) of photos looking silly without the overall context of the film. I trust Nolan. Eek.

...Selina Kyle takes the part of Azrael after Bane breaks Batman's back, a la Knightfall (the trailer hints at this as a plot development - Batman's line to Gordon in the hospital about Batman not existing anymore and the shot of him doing press ups as though he's getting back into shape, not to mention the last, superb shot of Batman looking punch-drunk as Bane stomps into view). There's also a rumour Marillon Cottilard is playing a Wayne Enterprises doctor. Could she be the doc that nurses Bruce back to health? Anyway, I digress, the picture! She's a jewel thief, so the costume looks good to me. Michelle Pfeiffer's costume was awesome, but doing something similar just wouldn't fit Nolan's Batverse. Oh, and her riding the Batpod? You heard the Azrael rumour here first!...unless you didn't, in which case you got there before me. Curse you.

Strikes me the goggles are required for riding the bat-pod? Or maybe not, I dunno and I don't want to know! LOVED the first two so I'll judge the film when I see it, not judge the film on random stills...

Either that or she discovers Bruce Wayne is Batman and "Borrows" his wonderful toys.

It seems between entertainment sites (such as yours truly) and fans, everyone's going to have worked out the plot in their mind almost a year before the movie's due. Surely an impossible-to-match expectation will result in disappointment as there's no way a movie can live up to this! At least with Batman Begins there was 'zilch' expectation. I hope people just wait for a trailer then the movie, it will make the viewing of TDKR all the more enjoyable, no?

This 'in Nolan we trust' thing is actually becoming very irritating

anyway, apart from the glasses, you cant really see anything. I think we have all kind of anticipated what this will look like, skintight black leather. I doubt the final reveal of her outfit will be much of a suprise

Look moaners, at no point did WB refer to Hathaway's character as 'Catwoman'. They called her Selina Kyle, not 'Selina Kyle/Catowoman'.

Potentially, this is a new take on the character or an earlier version of her. I personally think this really cool and raises my suspicions that she may be encompassing the 'John Paul Valley' role from The Knightfall Saga.

Whuy when releasing a first still of an important character to a film trilogy would you chose not to place a photo 'out there' that best illustratrated your character's best and 'known' interpretation or design. Makes no sense simply to release the first look at her as a 'half way house' effort.

Nah, I know what you BOTH mean but I can see Lewisb548's point. I reckon it's just training gear or whatever. I don't think that's the full costume otherwise the whole secret identity thing is screwed!

Everything he's ever done with this franchise has come out of left field - thinking outside the box. That's what makes it fresh and exciting. If this had shown her in a 'catsuit' it would have been shit as this is meant to be tied down more in the 'believable' world. Not Burton's...

It's an interesting idea but I don't see how they can do that story arc in one film. Unless the idea is to end it that way; Nolan has been pretty firm that this is his last Batman film and that would be one hell of a way to end the series (Batman crippled).

I think that's what Nolan brings to the Batman story - everything has a purpose or at least comes from somewhere 'real'. i.e. Look at Batman's costume and kit - they've been made for a different purpose and were then re-purposed by Bruce Wayne.

I suspect that Selina Kyle's goggles are from the same source as Batman's kit - take a close look at the material they're made of - it's fairly thick, and very moulded, like the batsuit. And I suspect that they have a purpose other than disguise - some kind of hi-tech visualisation gadget.

Although I swear in one of them... Christian Bale's suit is sculpted somewhere it shouldn't be. And yeah, Marion Cotillard is looking very Tibetan in that outfit, which is beautifully tailored by the way.

Lol and people thought she'd have cat ears...This is a NOLAN film we're talking about here. Batman ain't silly because bats are gothic and he is using to frighten people. but why would a girl dress as a cat? Always loved character of catwoman in comics but this accpect has always bothered me. Joker's insane, hence appearance, likewise Two Face and many other enemies...But catwoman?
