i loved hering this music when watching the film it built up the tention for the final battle sequence, Lilly's Theme was magnificent it sent shivers down my spine as you can really feel the music and connect to the characters on the screen especially snape. this soundtrack makes the movie.

I found it even less interesting or remarkable than the OST to Part 1

I felt like Desplat did not put his best effort in composing a set of brilliant tracks that would work both within the films and outside their cinematic contexts.

I guess that's what an OST should first take care of, i.e. to be part of a film, but somehow I would wish for more than this, namely for music to be more than just part of the backdrop against which the characters exist, but to breathe life in the moments and emotion and make it an experience to remember, and further than that, for Desplat to compose tracks that would show true power even when listened to as pieces of music regardless of their origin.

As it is, I felt, that both in part 1 and part 2 Desplat focused on composing a couple of themes, came up with a couple of interesting moments, but even these do not seem to me particularly outstanding, other than the fact that they do stand out from the rest of the bland tracks featured in these two OSTs.

As a stand alone score, it's quite good. The Statues motif is very moving and appears several times, but little else seems to gel (Lily's theme sounds like a cue from Doctor Who). Compared to Nicholas Hooper's score for HBP or Williams POA there is little heart . And unlike Patrick Doyle's magnificent GOF music there is little sense of occasion to match the end of the series.

Lily's Theme is brilliantly atmospheric and other pieces here and there are very good, but a lot of the actiony parts feel very mundane and heard-before. Also, other than the occasional reference to Hedwig's Theme, it doesn't link back at all to other films in the Potter series. Williams was brilliant for consistency, Doyle kept the same tone, as did Hooper, adding and keeping his own, but Desplat has in the last two, disregarded all the talent and themes that have come before. Its a great stand-alone score, but as a Potter score, I disagree with you here Empire by saying that John Williams would have done much better.

Really good job composing the music. It went well with the movie. The soundtrack makes the movie.

Same old tied soundtrack as Desplat's first HP effort. Fine when watching the film, but away from the cinema then this is not really good enough as a stand alone piece of. Oh dear!
