ORIGINAL: Professor Moriarty What makes the match interesting is that Trapattoni's job is under serious pressure. Qualifying for the Euros was a double-edged sword. On the one hand, great to get there. But on the other the team was so poor that since then the media and many fans have been asking big questions about why some players aren't being selected and a lot more negative comments (he only flies over here for the games, he doesn't scout, what does he do for the money) are getting asked. Those questions were being asked before EURO 2012. I wonder what odds I could get on Germany trashing Ireland by a greater margin than England trashing San Marino. Sorry I should have been clearer that imo they are now being asked more frequently and widely. A terrible performance and result, the knee-jerk response to it is wondering if an away game to the Faroe Islands on Tuesday could provide a surprise result. I think somewhere else somebody said that the FAI gave Trap a new 2 year contract just before the Euros, so buying him and his team out of that might be too expensive. In that case, the pressure will continue for a resignation with a pay-off. I don't buy the "FAI can't afford it" BS. They got €8 million for playing in the EUROS and that's not including sponsors, TV rights etc... Of course we do have one of the highest paid chief executives in international football who earns more than the head of Spanish and Italian football COMBINED. All this for being a completely ineffective muppet who has done nothing to further the game, the league or youth development in Ireland.
