Frustrated by his constant screw-ups, the Irken leaders, The Almighty Tallest, send him on an assignment to a nothing planet as far away from Irk as possible - Earth. Along with his dim-witted robot side-kick Gir (Possibly the show's greatest character), Zim sets himself up on Earth as a regular schoolboy, all the time plotting to destroy the planet and doing battle with Dib, an unpopular boy who suspects Zim's secret. A work of genius.

One of the finest pieces of television ever created, One Summer focuses on Billy Rizley (a powerhouse performance from David Morrissey), a young Liverpool kid, he's the typical intelligent but rebellious type and is always in trouble. When the show starts Billy hasn't been to school in months but in the first episode returns so he can sign up for the school trip to Wales. A previous school holiday had been one of the few good memories in his short life, but his attendance record is held against him and one of the teacher's takes great delight in banning him from the trip. Billy's life is hard, his family are on the poverty line and his mother spends what little they have on Bingo. Billy is also part of a local gang where he's tougher and smarter than the gang leader, but the other boy has all the power. A stupid gang fight leads to another kid getting badly injured and the police looking for Billy. Needing to get out of town in a hurry, Billy steals his mother's Bingo winnings and, along with his best friend, Icky, hops on the first train to North Wales. But Billy soon finds that the paradise of his memory is very different from reality.

With each episode split into segments, each focusing on different characters, Animaniacs had something for everyone.

Dogtanian & The Three Muskehounds

This joint production between Japan and Spain was an animated adaptation of the classic Dumas novel. The plot follows that of The Three Musketeers, but with all of the characters turned into anthropomorphic mutts. Dogtanian travels to Paris to become one of the Musketeers and finds himself involved in romance, intrigue, and swordfights galore. The series had one of the most memorable theme songs in cartoon history.

Singer, painter, player of the Didgereedoo, Rolf Harris is a man of many talents. His greatest work is without a doubt his epic cover of Stairway to Heaven. Rolf's Cartoon Club, where he introduced a variety of Looney Tunes shorts, is a close second. Rolf's Cartoon Club was actually a club that viewers could join and get a badge. According to Wikipedia, John Lasseter was the first ever club member. So I guess we have Rolf to thank for Pixar.  Stairway to Heaven is still his greatest achievement though.

The show is (as the title explains) the adventures of Big Pete and Little Pete - The Wrigleys. Along with their family and friends in the fictional town of Wellsville. Big Pete has a sort of but not really romance with best friend Ellen, a rivalry with "Endless" Mike and a good claim to being the sanest person in Wellsville. Little Pete is constantly clashing with authority, hero-worships Artie, a bizarre superhero who lives in the neighbourhood, and usually chooses the path of most resistance. With an amazing list of guest performers (Iggy Pop, Steve Buscemi, Debbie Harry, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Stipe...) and a soundtrack featuring The Gothic Archies, The Magnetic Fields, Polaris and The Apples in Stereo, if you don't love this show then you have never and will never be cool.
