I would like to see this film.

4 Pages, Excellent.  If the previous posters have taught me anything it's this;
If this thread has 4 pages but The Dark Knight Rises has 328 then that must mean it will 82 times better!

Hooray!

Transformers 3 is flat out enjoyment in cinema form, sure it's not going to be for everyone, but if you do like Michael Bay movies (and if you don't, your not really a film fan) you'll love Transformers for being EXACTLY what it's supposed to be.

Quote make lol!

I guess I'm not really a film fan then...

Yeah, saw a preview of this the other night and just have to say that this review is categorically WRONG, don't get me wrong, it isn't a classic, it doesn't change the landscape of cinema and it won't make you see the world differently, but, like ALL Michael Bay films, IT'S FLIPPING GOOD FUN. The second one was fun, so was the first, the "silly robots" were less silly and more FOR FUCKING CHILDREN. T3 is a great, fun, explodey film that made my inner eight year old squee with enjoyment as skyscrapers collapsed, people ran away from explosions and robots in disguise were no longer in disguise.

This review seems to confused T3 with some low key, lower budget art house film that's loved by critics and seen by no one else because it never gets properly released. Transformers 3 is flat out enjoyment in cinema form, sure it's not going to be for everyone, but if you do like Michael Bay movies (and if you don't, your not really a film fan) you'll love Transformers for being EXACTLY what it's supposed to be.

Believe me, you are doing this film absolutely no favors by defending it the way you are and OHBURN

so I can leave my brain at the door

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH

Entertainment does not need to be stupid, come on people stop feeding the machine

Your absolutely right it doesn't have to be stupid; but it can be and my point is their is just as much place in cinema for those movies as their are the movies with a bit of brain about them.

I'm not saying I want every movie to be stupid, but nor do I want to see a giant alien robot quoting Marxist theory or poetry by Yates either.

I really am not one to review a review at all (I think those people are utter bottom feeders with too much spare time on their hands) BUT that said, Empire when it first launched claimed to be a massive fan of the big Hollywood blockbuster, I remember when ID4 came out and Empire loved it. How is that anymore style over content than the Transformers Movies?

I just feel their is a real sobbery evolving about these kinds of films that are basically young, dumb and full of boom.

Call me a selfish bastard, but I have days where I want a Summer Blockbuster to get my brain matter working a little (Inception, The Dark Knight etc) and I have days where I would quite like to go to the cinema after a few drinks with some mates and just have my eye balls blown out of my head without having to worry about plot or the script (the Transformers films for example).

Why can I not have both without people bitching about it?

You can. And†I have no doubt this film will make a shed load of money for exactly that reason.

To expect anything higher than a 2 star review though when it is not deserving is a different matter though.

Oh absolutely!!

Look I haven't even seen the film yet and if this film is the biggest bit of gash I have ever seen then fine I will happily criticise the film BUT people aren't criticising the film here, people are criticising the review (which I thought was as always very well written AND an opinion) and people are in turn counter criticisng 'dumb' movies and thats what grips my piss.

I will happily criticise a big, dumb, hollywood blockbuster if it really is appalling. The Green Lantern for example was so bad I wanted to pull my own eye balls out half way through and throw them at the projectionist BUT lets watch the film first before we criticise another movie for being 'too stupid' to watch which is essential what everyone is doing here.

All I am trying to say is that if a film has appalling acting, shitty plot etc but is really good fun and looks fantastic - whats the harm in that?!

I agree, people are seriously taking the piss with that...
Anyway for future reference empire should do something similar to what they do on  DVDíS, something like:  these views are expressed solely by the reviewer and may differ from the views of other members of the empire team and should be treated as one individuals opinion. Just tag that at the top of each review and if you still have people complain, round these buggers up and play A Beautiful Mind continuously Ė TRUST me it wonít be pleasant for them...

So Empire saves the first poor review for the last film in this excretable series...

Guess the chains come off when you don't have to worry about the next set visit.

I have to say I haven't seen the second one. I do have the first on DVD and the other day I presented a few snippets to my unwell son in the hopes of cheering him up. Within two minutes of robot carnage he turned to me and said, very solemnly: "Daddy, this is rubbish." And this is coming from a three-year old whose favourite film of the moment revolves around talking insects. I actually feel a little embarassed to have it in my collection now. I'd forgotten how dull and sleazy it is, like an autophiliac's wet dream. Urgh.

I'm not going to whinge about Empire's review.
In all its awfulness, Transformers 2 taught me a valuable lesson in summer blockbuster movie appreciation.
There really is such a thing as too much action and too many explosions, even in OTT films such as this one
Before Transformers 2, I too was one of those fools that stated ''Awww, stop whinging, what do you expect from a film about robots punching eachother, Shakespeare?' And God Damn, sitting through that steaming, sandy explosion filled, piece of shit, really did make me see the error of my ways.

Now even though I'm pretty darned sure this new one will be a whole lot better, there's absolutely no point in moaning about this two star review until I've actually watched the thing.

You're too fast, I edited for poor english.

I don't know what BOOOOOOOOOOOOMS is but I guessed it was stars.  So, I said well you rated Lantern and Bad Teacher better than First Class.  First Class is so much better than Green Lantern.  I'm taking this thread off topic again Back to the shiny metal robots...

I review Bay movies on a BOOOOOM count rather than stars.

Anyway, I have no gripe about any Empire review or reviews in general. Its all opinion

BUT...its irrelevant what I've rated other movies compared to First Class (which is another average Marvel comic film with weak support characters, poor make-up FX, and lackluster action sequences as it recycles the same thing over from the previous 3 movies).

I didnt know First Class was the tent pole to compare films to....

Yes because we should expect more from a trilogy based on a cartoon that was based on a series of toys.

The reviews 6th paragraph says it all, that's why these films are made and that's why I will be going along to see it, for the spectacle.

How about something fun?

Also, I just played with my cat. That was pretty fun.

I disagree entirely.  My point was you'll probably like Transformers 3 if you like Green Lantern.  And dislike First Class, you obviously have no taste.
