Honestly couldn't guess. With Pixar it could be anything.

I've heard rumours that this might be directed by Pete Docter, which would be awesome

Pixar is so diverse and rich in ideas there's really no point guessing what their original projects might be. Just a shame that Newt was cancelled, I'm sure it would have been better than Rio turned out.

I swear that I read a rumour about a "Planes" movie. More like a spin-off movie of the Cars-franchise I would think then..

It must be 'Planes' I've seen the trailer somewhere in the last couple of weeks.

I'm really surprised that 'The Incredibles' never produced any offspring. Considering the subject matter, surely a few sequels coiuld have easily been produced? Instead, we get a follow up to 'Cars' which is one of their only real failures (if you can call it that) and made the vast bulk of it's money through merchandising, and not bums on seats. And judging by the reaction so far, it looks as if this one wil not fare much better either!
A new film would be the more suitable option..... maybe an animated film about an ogre in a land far far away....? ;)

Brad Bird who was the writer/director of The Incredibles has never been interested in doing a sequel.

Ok... my cousin works for Disney as an animator (worked on Tangled)... and not even he knows what its called or what the story is about. All he said it was based on dinosaurs.... you heard it here first! :)

My dog used to regularly sniff the ass of John Lasseter's dog and managed to glean some info from him about what he's been working on, and he says the new Pixar film is an adaptation of Blade Runner set in the world of wasps and hover flies. You heard it here first :/

Here's a curveball. Given the respect Pete Docter has for Miyazaki and how other Pixarians describe him as an influence, could this be a 2D animated manga?

It's got to be!! I read when Disney were in the process of buying up Marvel that they got the best of the best animators from both companies together to talk projects. Rumour has it that the meeting had be stopped early because people were getting too excited.

My money is on a Pixar/Marvel co-production. Hence the secrecy.
