How long until the Owen to Liverpool train gets going?

None. Liverpool fans hate him. Would never comeback here.

I think he might end up in France with Joe Cole.

Wont Joe be sent back soon? His wages are not average for France, I don't know if Liverpool were still paying some of them or the French took a punt, but I doubt his performance merited his salary.

The cull of weegie managers continues...

Kean (relegated)
Coyle (relegated)
McLeish (sacked)
Dalglish (left)

Surely Lambert, Moyes and Fergie will survive.

None of the promoted sides will have weegie gaffers.

Will any of the managerless pluck a weegie from obscurity and begin the repopulation? Mackay at Cardiff? Surely McLeish won't get another gig. Coyle has form when it comes to ship jumping, would anyone fancy him? Surely not. Steve Clarke and Eric Black are near enough weegies will either of them fancy a "top job"? Unlikely.

Surely none of the managerless clubs will be desperate enough to try an English manager...

I don't consider Coyle Scottish.

I thought Lille said publicly in January that they wanted to sign him, and he gave the same impression too in an interview. Maybe he's going to take a salary cut, I can't think of too many EPL clubs who would consider signing him now to be honest.

Weegies aren't necessarily Scottish. See also: McGeady, Aiden; Houghton, Ray. Weegies both.

I agree, it might upset their team 'rythm' when they have a player amongs their midst who's won the Premier League !

My point exactly. Darren Fletcher could've played for one of the Irelands as well, but he chose Scotland.

Darren Fletcher's from Dalkeith. Even I canna class that as weegie.

I suppose Glasgow might be ok, if it weren't populated by weegies. It'd need disinfecting and a right good tidy. Mass deconstruction would help. A complete reorganisation of the road layout is definitely in order. Anyway...

Liverpool...

City release Hargreaves.
Was a tidy player when fit but injuries have obviously taken its toll on him.
Wouldn't surprise me to see him retire.

Can't blame the lad for wanting to make a few quid. But it always seemed to me that City picked him up just to see if it pissed off Utd. Course, they didn't care. I think they'd even turned down an offer to play for free. And knew City had bought a lame duck. If he'd been serious about playing again he'd have gone down a step to WBA or somewhere. Might pick up a few quid in the US. But a sad end to what could have been an even better career.

Personally I cant see him coming back.
The final nail in the coffin for his footballing career because I cant see anyone one (big or small) taking a gamble on him.

Surely Hargreaves will head to the Major League of the Semi-retired.

My hammers' mate is creaming himself at the thought of Joe Cole returning "home" in the off-season. I was struggling to comprehend the wages paid by West Ham in the fizzy pop league (55k per week for Nolan!) and apparently the players get a pay rise now they're promoted. Mental.

Demonic possession perhaps as well? Let's see what other "theories" we can come up with.

Let's face it, Barton is a twat. There's nothing else to say really. Whatever "help" the PFA decides to try and give him I expect very little change from the player. He's been a twat most of his career and he'll retire a twat as well.

QPR should be smart and release him, the past season has been difficult enough for them, Mark Hughes has a job to do to build a team of his own there and start their premiership reign like they mean to go on. This will be nothing but a distraction.

Malky Mackay and Dave Jones (Lol) are early favourites to replace Brendan Rogers at Swansea.

Nope.

It's nice to see a club like Liverpool give a manager like Rodgers a chance rather than just pumping for a high-profile appointment because they dare not even glance at anything slightly lower.

I haven't seen too many complaints from Swansea fans to be honest, I think they can understand it, they'll be disappointed, obviously, but they respect and admire what Rodgers has done and can understand why he's taken this opportunity.

Honestly, I think the cases of Rodgers and Lambert are chalk and cheese.

Rodgers had a clause built into his contract that if he went to a new club there'd be a "transfer" fee. Liverpool asked for permission to speak to him. Rodgers initially turned down their approach until he knew it was his job to lose so he didn't rock the boat untowardly. Liverpool have paid a reasonable amount for Rodgers and the back room staff. And if I understand it, there's an agreement that he wont poach Swansea players for a year.

Lambert just walked out on Norwich. I don't know what fee Norwich will get for him. And Grant Holt also decided to go mercenary.

I'm disappointed with Lambert who I think will be a great manager and behaving like Steve Bruce I don't think is the way to achieve that.

In both cases I think they'd have benefited from another season with their clubs. A bit like Eoin Coyle, who I think would have been in a better position if he'd not jumped at the first chance to go to a bigger club.

Poor old Martinez though, huh. No one wants him.
