Finished the story with the lad yesterday. It's pretty much perfect. Looking forward to roaming Middle Earth and then a second run through of the levels.

The upside of playing this game is that the lad is now super interested in LOTR and we can watch the movies together.

The downside (kind of!) is that i've had to fork out a furtune for the actual Lego for his birthday in a couple of weeks....

Best Lego game so far though....

I'm splitting my time just now between my second run through of levels, then completing quests with the items I find. Great game.

I'm still loving it, but some of the precision jumping quest are doing my head in. Changing camera angles, Gollum randomly jumping off walls, dodgy collision detection, water sending you back to the beginning. All getting me close to throwing the controller into the TV. The worst is when you climb high, swap character, but it selects the second character instead. By the time you switch back your first character has jumped to the bottom again.
.

That was driving me mental at one point, trying to climb up Mount Doom (I think) to get a block. Kept falling all the way back to the bottom.

Between that and trying to use Gandalf's magic I'm surprised I've got any hair left.

What is the actual position for the blocks in Rivendell?

I'm currently free roaming collecting bricks and doing quests. Such a great game, one of the best games I've played as I've enjoyed it so much but this is by far the worst (and only) thing about it. I got so pissed off trying to climb Mount Doom that I gave up and decided to go back to it later. The climbing quests are a pain in the arse.

Just spent three hours plodding around Middle Earth to 8-bit music (which is genius!). Then I used the 'Disco Phial', that mashup is one of the funniest things I've seen/heard in a game for years. You certainly get your moneys worth with Lego games and this has been really enjoyable to play, I'm 75% done but can see myself playing this with the lad for years to come it's so enjoyable.

Im playing Lego City Undercover and loving it.

Ok its not perfect, there is a lot of driving and the controls for the fighting seem a bit random but its vary varied, VERY funny and HUGE. The city is massive and will take a long time tofully complete everything.

For example, early on in the game I found this large white box, did everything to it but nothing happened. A quick look on YouTube showed it contains an alien which you have to capture when your in the Astronaunt costume. I didnt even know there was an Astronaunt costume!

The game looks amazing as well

Currently 95% through Lego LOTR, just got one blacksmith design to find, one level full of treasures to get and the bonus level to complete and I'll be done. I have to say I haven't enjoyed this one as much as the last few. My main complaint would be the amount of walking you have to do (pretty apt in a game based on a series of films full of walking ). Lego Batman 2 had the right idea by letting you fly around the city hub whereas this doesn't even allow you to ride any animals further than the boundary of the challenge they're there for. It's buggy as hell too, I've had to restart quite a few levels because scripted events didn't happen and I couldn't progress any further. Plus your character can quite often enter an infinite death loop which is annoying as fuck but nowhere near as annoying as your guide studs sending you in the wrong direction. Seriously, if, after you've completed it, you mark your destination on the map and fast travel to the nearest statue then the guide studs will point you towards the bonus level 100% of the time desite showing your destination as the one you marked on the map. This is on top of the things DJ Satan mentions above regarding dumb fuck characters and Gollum's dodgy as fuck climbing mechanics.

I hope the Marvel Lego game is an improvement on this although to be honest the whole formula is beginning to feel more than a bit tired now, it's a shame that anything new they add tends to be detrimental to the quality (I mean who the fuck thought that having to go through the rigmarole with the Blacksmith for all 30 of the items you find would be a fun addition?).

Lego Marvel out in the states now. Positive reviews: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/lego-marvel-super-heroes

Why a three week wait for a UK release? Day one purchase for me.

Been reading up on this.... 140 odd playable characters from the MU.... hopefully its not as simple or straightforward as the DC version... but I will be getting this on release (if Arkham origins has been completed, if not i'll hang off for Xmas and play this with the other half when hungover!)

I've played the demo and it's great fun. Granted you only play as Iron Man, Hulk and Spidey but still so entertaining. And the person in peril *hi-light to read tiny spoilers* is Stan Lee. Also Coulson is directing you via radio *end of spoilers* Cannot wait for the game

The demo has certainly got me in the mood for this. Shame I'm poor and I've run out of shit games to trade in. Never mind, the wife'll just have to get me it for Xmas.

I like the nods to the films and also the awful cheesy one liners you get in the comics as well. Hulks dust up with Abomination was great. Really looking forward to playing with all those other characters. Shame the demo was so short. Would've been nice for a wee bit more. Probably the shortest Lego demo available.

Just finished the demo - absolutely loved it, but I have a bit of a dilemma, the game comes out on the 15th - we move house on the 18th and its between 2 different cities, throw in Amazon are selling it for 32 and I'm tempted to pre-order, but I've been messed around by them before, so I don't want to buy it, then not be able to get it because Amazon delay the delivery.

So, anyone else pick this up on Friday? I'm about the half way point now, and it's not disappointing. There's a great choice of characters, some totally unexpected (Squirrel Girl?) and as usual, a nice level of Lego humour to help the game along. The one thing that I'm finding annoying at the minute is all the between-levels shenanigans as you run around NYC and the helicarrier before finding the location that triggers the next cutscene and level.

Still, its a minor niggle in what is proving to be a very enjoyable game! :)

I completed it earlier tonight, thought it was great fun and I enjoyed it a lot more than Lego LOTR although the game engine is now starting to creak around the edges and show its age (I played it on PS3 so I'm guessing this might be the series swansong on this machine).

Haven't got round to playing the bonus level I was told I'd unlocked when I completed it, and I still need to go back and find all the hidden characters (only one I've found so far is Blade, but I didn't actually get to unlock/purchase him) - I won't give away what happens in the second half of the game but I will say that the bit mid end credits will seriously force Marvel to raise their game in their films in the future and there's a certain Marvel legend that gets to sing over the end credits too...

Been co-op-ing it with my wee lass. We're about halfway through I think, just about to go into the X-Mansion.

It's good but I've found it buggy as hell and I've had to restart levels a few times. Levers not opening doors they should, characters getting stuck in an infinite falling loop, gold bricks not triggering when they should in New York and the amount of times my wee girl has managed to get a character stuck in scenery - she should be a bug tester for TT.

Got a nice Iron Patriot from Amazon for pre-ordering too.

If you're on about GAME you should be able to get for Half Price at 25. Ask them about honouring deal as printed on their next gen bundle flyers, then pay upfront and pick up a week later.

I'm getting on PS4 for 25.

I haven't seen any of the Game offers yet. I was in there on Sunday and they were very dismissive of me. If I had a chance to swap pre-orders I would do.

I kinda chat to them at my local, but they showed me their folder of flyers with all the bundles, 10 discount games, half price games and then all their upselling GAME endorsed product crap.

Bundle Offers

The LOTR one never really hooked me to be honest. I'll probably pick up Hobbit because me and the wee lass have had good fun playing Marvel together, her first time really sitting down and playing a game.

How big is Marvel by the way? I feel like I've done shit loads. Story complete, a few levels run through on free play, loads of characters bought and unlocked, a few red bricks collected, 130 gold bricks and I'm still only about 30-ish %. Currently saving up for the x4 red brick to speed things along. Been great though.
