If this is yet another Tarantino film filled with riffs from other films, using other soundtracks, like Death Proof, Kill Bill 1&2, and Inglorious Bastards, then count me out. We get he is a film fan. But that is no excuse for the films he's made recently. Jackie Brown proved he can make excellent films. It's time he made something as good.

Everything he's ever made was an homage! That's what he does. Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs are all as much homage as the later films.

You know what? He could have ripped off every single film ever made for all I care; when he brings it all together and makes it so entertaining I don't give a shit. Count me in.

He seems to be doing quite well for a has-been. As I understand it you're a fan of The Expendables, which isn't the most original movie to begin with. It's also achingly dull.

I've not seen the original Django films (I believe there's 2 right?) but as soon as I found out Tarantino is remaking it I decided to take a look. I searched for it on empire movie club and the description said 'Originally banned in several countries (and rejected by the UK Censors until 1993)'. How much more Tarantino can you get?! :D I'm expecting/hoping it'll be out at the end of next year/beginning of 2013

I've been reading about it and apparently it's not a remake but an original story (as Django in Tarantino's film is actually a black man).  The name is just a homage to the original.  Still psyched for it!

ah right like Inglourious Basterds? I don't think the original completely rewrote WWII

Like Inglorious Basterds then, only this time actually set in the wild West?

I assume so.  And it's about damn time.  I also hope this means he's not doing Kill Bill 3.

It's like the third western he does. There was me hoping he'd do something original then he goes the most predictable route imaginable.

Inglorious Basterds was a spaghetti western based in WW2 setting and KIll Bill Volume 2 has the settings, references and tropes of a western. So yeah, third time. Four if we count his cameo in Western Sukiyaki Django.

IB is a war film. Kill Bill is an action film. Neither are westerns or set in the west.

TGTBTU is also an action film. Leone's westerns tended to be war/action flicks. Duck, you Sucker is also a war film. The Wild Bunch also had a war and had some brutal action in it. Since when is a western specifically set specifically in the west? Sometimes they're in space, in Indiana, Manchuria etc...

Kill Bill Volume 2 wasn't set in the West? God I knew I dreamt all that desert.

Hahaha, oh dear poor Snake-Eyes.

I was surprised by how much I enoyed Inglourious having felt sure I'd hate it, so I will give it a go.  Death Proof and Pulp Fiction (yes, Pulp Fiction) were crushingly awful to me, but I have to admit he seems to get better with age.
