Rage, a new first-person open world shooter from iD Software is getting some nice previews. It looks similar to Borderlands, which is no bad thing in my book, and it's due out in September. Along with Arkham City and Deus Ex, this is something I'm looking forward to later this year...

While it looks similar to past releases like Fallout and Bioshock, the actual gameplay seems alot different. I'll be checking it out. Then they can get onto finishing Doom 4

Looking forward to this. Don't think I can afford it on release date due to the likes of Battlefield3 coming out in a couple of month but will be getting this once some spare 's come available.

Arsenal video here http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/rage/video/6322701/rage-interview-with-matt-hooper?tag=bounce&contsessid=e16c9e72e6a8cd06703106081accdb2e&prevBounce=6323593

Basically nearly 5 minutes of characters getting shot in a variety of ways, but this is looking very very good. It's out in October, so the last quarter of this year really is getting quite busy with lots of big releases.

Here's hoping 'RAGE' doesn't have shitty online Multiplayer Achievements on it! HATE THEM!

Also for anybody buying this game and thinking they will probably download it to there hard drive, think again! Especially if you have a 20GB or 60GB Hard Drive like me! 21/22 GB to download this game! 3 Disks also......2 for the singleplayer and 1 for the multiplayer.

Is anyone picking up Rage?

its getting scores ranging from 8.5 - 9.5 and IGN state it is the best looking game ever!

I am tempted...

Going to wait and see what Edge says, could just be a marmite game.  Will probably play it down the line when pickings are slim.

Looking at the "review landscape" (metacritic)  that review might be a bit harsh...

Ouch! The reviewer really didn't like the game!

I'll be getting this at some point and it seems to be getting mostly positive reviews, but I've still not finished Deus Ex, and Batman is around the corner, so Rage is going to have to wait...

Any feedback on this game? With Deus Ex still on the go (almost done .I think..), Dark Souls out and Skyrim a mere month away I'm gonna have to leave this one until some time next year when I've polished through the insanely vast amount of quality games that are coming out.

I was tempted, but I'm feeling a little tired of FPS' at the minute. Still, might trade a couple of games tomorrow. Apparently gamestation give you an extra tenner on trade ins for new releases.

I do believe Gamestation do an extra 10 for any two games you trade in towards another. I did that with Gears.

Although Game are doing a deal were you can trade in Gears and get Rage for 99p.

Hmm odd. I traded two in against Dark Souls and the receipt said something along the lines of "5 pounds off any new release game when you trade in". Nevermind! Either way it's a good deal.

I thought the game started pretty slow to be honest. However once you go to get the new defibrillator the game gets a lot better

Like James said, it starts alittle slow at the beginning but I think it's going to get very good later on. Its basically Borderlands to be honest, just better graphics. I have to be honest, I thought it was going to be more like Fallout, open and free to do what you like, when you like which I would of preferred.

I'm currently trying to get through and mop up Warhammer 40K: Space Marines so RAGE has taken a back seat. Then there is BF3 later in the month too.

The game does get a lot better after the first couple of missions and I am really enjoying it. However I am already on to the second disk with just under 6 hours played. Like Pratt said many people will liken this to Fallout 3 but this game is more linear in comparison.

Oh yes, I've heard the game can be completed in 9hrs if you plough through it which is alittle disappointing really. Maybe they will bring out some DLC later on. I have also heard that there are some sort of 'sewers' which hold massives of loot in them, but haven't bothered to read much into them.

Do you know anything about them James?

I've heard about the sewers but not found any yet. The closest thing I've found to them is locked doors which you use lock cutters to gain access to. The only things I've found in them so far has been ammo and minerals.

There is one under the fly-over near where you start the game. There is an old man near it and he tries to warn you about going down there. It's full of Mutants who jump around like something out of a circus act!

Im a few hours into this and enjoying it so far. I'm not really a massive fan of FPS, though I really liked the Bioshocks, but its doing enough to keep me interested. The races and little side missions are quirky enough to break up the main story. I can see me wanting to get it finished soon to get it traded for either Assasins Creed or Skyrim though

I've completed the Co-op mission and got all the achievements for them, (aswell as the one for completing a Co-op mission on Insane) with just 1 left to get online.

Thought this would be best to do before the game loses interest and it's difficult to get matched up. I've put this game down at the moment as it wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be an open world RPG like Fallout 3, New Vegas etc but turned out to be pretty scripted. You can't roam off too much (admittantly there are side quests etc) but nothing like Fallout.

I think my RPG fix will have to come from the likes of Skyrim which everybody seems to be talking about and playing at the moment. A part of me is even thinking of selling RAGE and adding alittle money to what I get, and purchase Skyrim before Christmas.

Edited just for Dale.
