 Of all the shows Fillion could have committed to, he chose yet another light hearted procedural cop show featuring a male and female lead. From the clips I've seen Castle is sharp, funny and entertaining (although that is down to Fillion), but it just seems like a waste of his talents.


Are there any critically acclaimed shows that people think is going to get cancelled due to poor ratings? (always terrible when that happens). It happened to Terriers and Rubicon last year (they were only given one season) and it looks like it's happening to Parenthood this year.

The Good Wife seems to be in danger and its a show I would recommend to people as it manages to combine great storytelling inside what looks like a procedural format. Although I hope this show doesnt get cancelled as its one of my favourite ones on at the moment.

...and Castle is a great show the chemistry between the two stars is what makes it work imo and it doesnt hurt that Stana Katic is crazy good looking

 I agree she's a fox (you, me and theoriginalcynic's taste in women is unparalleled).


The Good Wife looks likely to be heading out, but Julianna Margulies is a big name in TV so she could have the leverage to keep it going for another season perhaps.

There was a slight bump in ratings in the Season 2 finale which apparently NBC was very happy about so Season 3 is looking good, though aside from the large cast I wouldn't imagine it's HUGELY expensive to make.

 I've seen the first two episodes of Parenthood on 5* and so far it seems good. Hate it when it takes ages for a good show to get here, like Community which was shown in the UK when the second season was being shown in the US... and they still havent shown Parks and Recreation over here, I may just have to buy that on DVD.

Based on the three episodes I've seen, it is a lot more like Brothers and Sisters. I'm not sure whether to continue with it. I hate giving up on shows, just two I've stopped watching in about 5 years, but I'm watching a lot of the moment and this really hasn't captured my attention a lot.

Oh, it's definitely a family show. I only saw the first couple of episodes and decided it was not for me.

 It's actaully a really good show, quite intense at times - lots of family drama, the cast are brilliant.

I prefer my dramas to be more adult, dark and gritty. Shows like Brothers and Sisters where everyone looks like they strolled right out of the catwalk I just don't buy and can't get into.

 Chase has begun airing its final 5 episodes for NBC, is this show fully cancelled because it just says it was put on a hiatus and could it still get renewed if these 5 episodes get good ratings (which is going to be doubtful)

well lucky for you that Big Bang Theory has been renewed for 3 more seasons and the other shows on that list have all been renewed for their next season as well.

Chase is done, they said it's on hiatus as they still have episodes already completed that they planned to show. They are burning off the final episodes on a Saturday night, which is actually more than what a lot of shows get.

I'm still waiting for season 2 of community! Breaking Bad (sadly nobody has picked up the rights to s3 in the UK)

Never seen US office (not a fan of the UK one) and FNL seen a couple of episodes.

Can't recommend The Office US highly enough (my favourite comedy ever), and given you love Fraiser I'm sure you'll love this. The characters, tone and humour is completely different to the UK version (which I'm not a fan of either).

Given you have identical taste in women as me and MI Cruise:

Once some of the shows you watch finish/get cancelled or you feel like watching another series, you can buy The Office S1-3 DVD for about £13 online at most places.

Is it popular over here? I've barely heard of it. It didn't get a decent showing so I assume hardly anyone has seen it. Plus, Five no longer own the rights to it, so season 3 is drifting out there somewhere waiting for someone to show it.

I've also been looking forward to The Office, I've been hoping that Comedy Central repeat from season 1 but I dont think that will be likely as they are soon going to start airing the latest season.

As far as I'm aware, FX have only shown season 1 as Five required the rights for  season 2 but treated it very poorly, dumping it in a late night slot over Christmas. FX may get the rights again but it depends on how many viewers it got. They haven't done so yet, so I have a feeling it's no big loss to them.

well then if they dont air season 3 then it wont get a region 2 DVD release, same thing happened with Weeds, but now thanks to Sky Atlantic showing them they'll slowing start coming on DVD as well.
