The pilots for Ben and Kate, The New Normal and The Mindy Project are now online, having seen The Mindy Project it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be be but it looks like it could get old fast.

Anyway watch World Without End (sequel to Pillars of the Earth) it's airing on Canadian channel Showcase apparently channel 4 have the rights and will be airing it in 2013.

Watched the first episode and it has potential to be good I liked POTE as well.

What are your most anticipated, new shows for 2012-2013? I only ever hear about a show when it's finished its first season. To be honest nothing new looks very promising.

Arrow? 666 Park Avenue? Anger Management? The Following? Revolution? Last Resort?

Do Showtime, HBO and FX have any new shows planned for 2012-2013? I heard Showtime are doing a series called Masters of Sex.

It's not that much of an issue anyway, there's plenty of returning favourites that'll keep me busy.

I've seen the pilots of Anger Management, Revolution and Last Resort. I'll watch the pilots to the other too but nothing is grabbing me this year to be honest.

I've not seen any of them. It looks a poor year for new TV shows, a lot of these won't go past one season.

Is American Horror Story coming back as a TV series then? I thought it was a one-off miniseries. I've heard great things and it's on my Amazon wish list. Also, you forgot The Daily Show.
Would you recommend me giving Grimm, Revenge and Person of Interest a try? Have you seen Once Upon a Time and Alphas? I've heard good things about those five shows.

I am watching the latest episode of Alphas as I type this but it's been on for weeks so I didn't include it. I liked the first season but this one is a bit dull. I personally couldn't get into Once Upon a Time.

Revenge is pure OTT soap opera, but it's quite fun in its ridiculousness. It knows it's OTT, though, which is why I enjoy it, it doesn't pretend otherwise. Person Of Interest started off dull but then got really good about halfway through the season and despite a somewhat dodgy performance by the lead, it's a good action thriller show. Grimm is Supernatural but with 67% less humour and more made up monsters.

And American Horror Story is coming back but with a different cast (save one or two) a new setting and a totally new story, which is why it has the 'mini-series' status, it'll change every season. And I didn't include the Daily Show because it's an ongoing show and isn't really 'returning' which was the point of the list of shows in the first place.

Just watched some trailers on YouTube, I'm going to give them a pass apart from AHS (which looks really interesting). Network dramas aren't really my thing, the only ones I like are Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.

Alphas isn't a network show but I get what you mean. Well, I don't really, a good show is a good show but whatever

I just meant that 'network' dramas follow a particular tried and tested formula, whereas 'cable' dramas have no limit and are much more free to be creative. I find myself sighing anytime I see a trailer/poster for a show filled with shiny teeth, immaculate hair etc

Didn't say I disagree but there are good shows on both cable and network. And I was just pointing out that Alphas isn't a network show

It seems strange that Syfy are considered cable. Their other shows (Warehouse 13, Eureka etc) could be easily mistaken for being on network programming. Why do Syfy play it so safe? Surely they realise that their audience are 'geeks' and they have no network pressure. They should be making weird, dark, niche shows. BSG was their biggest success both commercially and critically, and they haven't tried to replicate that formula.

It's 'basic' cable, though and they have some of the same restrictions as network as they are not encrypted. If you look at 'basic' cable shows like FrankIn & Bash and Perception, they are allowed uses of the word 'shit' or 'asshole' but are still restricted in the violence they can show. It's odd, sure, but seeing a show which should be a network show have two or free uses of 'shit' a week is progress. It's bloody slow progress but progress all the same. More 'basic' cable shows should add some swears

The upcoming Dallas remake would be almost watchable with a few cunts thrown in.

Have you seen the cast? It already does.....

Anyway, the Dallas remake has been and gone, season two airs next year. It's still showing on Five over here, though but it is hardly 'upcoming'
