Looks like Christian Bale's Batman is broken by Bane and Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes up the mantle...

Ah but would JGL take up the mantle of Batman or Nightwing.

Having just bought and read The Long Haloween, I'm a little disappointed that JGL won't be Alberto Falcone.

But then if I want a dramatisation of The Long Haloween I'm not going to get that from Chris Nolan as he's a lot better than that.

My guess is JGL will end the film as Batman. To paraphase The Dark Knight ' Batman is  more than a man, he is an idea'

Can see her having a simler impact in this as she had in Inception [still think hers was the best performance in that film]. Hope whatever she does the film sees her at her icy, chilling best.

I thought Anne Heatherway had been locked in to play Cat Women.

How does this actress manage to find work? She has no personality and looks like a bloke.

Because you are wrong she is a very talented, and knows just how to command a scene, and get across a wide range of emotion. And I don't see what her in your opinion looking like a bloke has to do with her acting ability.

classy

she's really great in little white lies and i think she'll likely be one of the best things about TDKR. as for the fact that she's pregnant, i assume they'll shoot her scenes later in the year.

Should be seeing Little White Lies soon, have heard really mixed reviews, but I am certain she will deliver in it.

the main problem is that it's far too long. but the cast are all great and it's unexpectedly very funny in places. Francois cluzet has most of the best moments. it's really well shot too. it reminded me of the great outdoors a little bit. Cotlilard plays against type compared with other stuff that I've seen her in. she does a lot with a character that could have come across as really conceited and unlikeable. her character is really sort of charming rather than ice maiden-ish. I'll be interested to see what she brings to the table in the next batman movie

Waaaaaay too long. Cotillard is fine in it, even if the character is a bit 2dimensional. Cluzet is the best thing in it

Regardless of whether you find her attractive or not (and she is extremely attractive), her personality doesn't need to shine through in a film either does it? If she inhabits a role, she inhabits a role. It's a moot point.

Men, my point was that she has no charisma or personality. Just watch some of her interviews (such as Inception) and notice how uncomfortable Ellen and Leo are whenever she's talking. And on camera it's too obvious she's acting. There's no grace, charm, fluidity to it. Her face is expressionless and I find her (and her film choices) incredibly boring. Since when are actors judged purely on acting capability? They require the whole package to get to the top. The best actors glue you to the screen and can entertain, excite and elicit emotions by empathising with them. I don't find her attractive and I would say no (which is saying something).

That's one of the strangest things I've ever read. First and foremost, they should be judged on acting capability.

Who can really tell good acting apart from bad acting anyway? I'd rather an actor be likeable and have a personality so when I watch him on the screen I'm not disinterested by his presence.

This is you failing to make the distinction between an actor and a star. Cotillard may not be the best star, which requires the whole package, but she is certainly a damn fine actor, which can only be judged by what we see on screen.

Yes, that is called acting. You do not watch Inception and go, "Oooh, the woman playing Leo's wife is terrible, I can't believe her because I saw her once doing an interview with Oprah and she was like so rigid."

quote:

I don't find her attractive and I would say no (which is saying something).

This is it, isn't it? This is the only problem you have with her you can articulate without sounding like a five-year-old who just shoved a crayon up their nose.

Fuck I bet you have problems watching Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in the West.

Uncalled for.

I don't like her because I find her boring. I don't know if there's a harsher criticism than that. When she's on screen my interest falls and I think of all the other actresses I would rather watch than her. I don't find her acting anything special, she is very melodramatic and out of place with the tone of the majority of the films she's in. But I suppose given she's French, pouts and is a fashion icon that equates to her having actual acting talent.

I'd rather watch actors who are likeable, entertaining, charismatic and have a personality of some sort. This is why some of my favourite actors are:
Nic Cage, Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Nathan Fillion, Arnie, Brad Pitt etc.

I called her a French, pouty, fasion icon. Much like Keira Knightley.

I just find actors who constantly pose pretentiously like some 70's noir Goddess annoying.
