the first film pretty much jumped straight to #2 on my list of WORST FILMS EVER (right behind X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
the script was apalling.
the direction/production was poor.
neesson hamed up the role so much it was comical (he was being ironic right?)
the story was ridiculous - with more plot holes than a collinder
and the whole thing hinged on some sick revenge fantasy.

although i've got a great idea for the sequel, how about the French policemen dude goes after Liam Neeson in America, because he needlessly shot his wife?

In terms of plot, how about Neeson's character being hunted in revenge for what he did in the first film...with a riff on the phone conversation from the first film...the voice says to Neeson's character...

"...we're not stupid enough to be where you'd expect to see us. We've already found you. We're watching your every move. And we will take you when you least expect it. We will be efficient, we will be ruthless and we will leave no trace. You will be alone and very close to the end of your life when it dawns on you that you have been snatched from under the very noses of those you love the most. And you will have no idea where you have been taken...(hangs up).

Thought the first film was pretty much a load of balls, seriously flattered by the star power of the lead. Unless Taken's sequel is gonna be a basic facsimilie of the first (yawn) it might be cool to have the shoe on the other foot, and perhaps even a trap that means that the 'particular set of skills' are up against a keen mind able to induce Neeson to employ the skills and in doing so, simply look like an insanely violent psycho likely to attract police attention, and then possibly be inviting their attention until he has been taken (down). Revenge by manipulation versus 'a particular set of skills'

I have always been baffled by the relative success of Taken. It was formulaic, bland, and to me, borderline racist. There is also a scene, the specifics of which escape me, where Maggie Grace runs in a quite hilarious manner. They'd be missing a trick if they didn't call the sequel 'Taken 2 the extreme.'

Maggie Grace runs in every scene she's in, it's hilarious, my friends made a drinking game out of it
