Am in the 3d specs pic from MC2 and also have my wrist band. Didn't manage to get a ticket last year, though not through lack of trying (3 hours on hold... at work )! Does this get me in?!

Could always use the Movie-Con 3 seating plan T-shirt. Has a full list of names from that one.

i still have my ticket stubs and my wrist bands but i dont think thats how they will do it.

realistically it will be from our names used to buy tickets. But my concern is for a friend... she has been to every one but it was always me that bought her ticket. So her name isnt on a listing anywhere, just mine. Does that mean she will have issues?

Same here. My mate has always brought the tickets as she got through first so I'm sure my name has never come up. I do have my wristbands and there is photographic evidence out there but no hard data.

I think it's a shame Empire and Mark Millar with his "Kapow" enterprise are bypassing the already established and very succesful London MCM Expo, which is held twice a year at ExCel London (www.londonexpo.com). It's a similar format to San Diego Comic Con, but with a bigger focus on games, anime and dealer stalls (probably because they have not been too successful pulling in starz and studios). It's great shopping for comics, DVDs, collectables etc. However, what it is missing is stars, directors and advance peeks at new films.
I think part of the reason MCM Expo has not developed more along the lines of SDCC is that it doesn't get support from Empire or Total Film. Setting up your rival event will only prevent the UK and Europe from having its own complimentary event to SDCC, which could attract big names, great scoops and exclusives if only we all worked together. I understand that Bauer events want to own their own con, but I am sure the commercial team know as well as anyone in the con trade that these events rarely make a profit. I'd love to see Empire work with an established con rather than trying to compete. MovieCon is great, but it's small and intimate. Why not move it over to ExCel with MCM Expo?

I went to an MCM Expo once and was left bitterly disappointed in it. Movie-Con was a different kettle of fish altogether and it became the highlight of my life to date.

Great news on this.  I can't wait to see who they have lined up.

Fair play to Helen and all of the other Empire peeps for not forgetting about the Movie-Con regulars.

I have my hotel booked already - squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaal!!!

I find it horrendous. Unless you're into cosplay in a BIG way it's horrific. No, I want Empire to continue doing their own thing. If I want to meet big stars then I'll go to London Film and Comic Con for that.

I didn't realise you'd kept those when we moved. Can I get in the picture too then as we only kept one between us?

Actually no, the video footage of me onstage at MC1 next to Llama_again is probably a better indicator.

I literally just chucked my bags out on Saturday.  However if I wear my 'Young, Dumb and Full of Cum' t-shirt and bring a copy of Bitch Slap, I'm sure I will get in.

Yes, there's the whole thing of "well it must have been a spot prize/goody bag piece of tat, because why would anyone buy it?"

Anyone still got my mini rough guide from last year's goody bags?

Me too.  I thought that was great.  Not as great as the Empire Strikes Back t-shirt though   *wears with pride*

The best thing I got at last year's Movie Con is a signed Empire Magazine from Director John Landis! It was also quite cool sitting in the seat behind his wife as we watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

If you have moved from the Movie-Con IV thread onto here and are blissfully unaware, this is what's happening:

All Forumites interested in getting VIP status need to PM me their details (full name, forum name and e-mail address). Those who already know me will need to do this too :)
I'll then put them onto a spreadsheet and forward them to Helen at the end of Friday. Please don't send details after 6pm Friday as I won't be here :p

Ta very much :)

This was bound to happen and I knew that Empire would expand movie-con after the huge demand last year. Im well chuffed about this as I couldn't get a ticket for last years event, but more importantly I think Empire have quite cleverly spotted a gap in the market and are taking full advantage of it.

What I mean is we all know and have heard of Comic-con but few of us have ever been there, seriously who has the money to travel to California for a movie festival every year? Most dont and the problem is that the UK and Europe in general dont really have a proper equivilant. Sure there are film fests and sci-fi conventions here and there but nothing as large or as comprehensive as comic-con in the US. This is a great opportunity to show that we can do something as relevant this side of the pond, and if this years event is as big a success as it should be then there is no reason why it shouldn't expand annually.

And as for those who complain that it wont be as nice and intimate as before, well its ok for the lucky few who managed to get a ticket, but the rest of us are quite happy to sacrifice the intimacy of a small theatre for the chance to actually be there. Bring it on and hats off to Empire for having the balls to pull something like this off.

That's fair enough. I agree with you. The London Expo is a very different event to Movie Con. I've got to admit that Empire and Movie Con have done a great job with their panels, previews and exclusives, but it's a shame it's missing the vendors and vibe you get from a Comic Con style event. I am lucky enough to get to attend SDCC annually for work and it is truly an amazing experience. I just wish we had the same experience here in London.

It was an amazing experience but now it is far too busy
I went in 2005 and loved every second.....then 2008 and struggled to get in hall H half the time ! Damn Twi-hards !

The day Empire stops the allocated seat system will be the day you dont see me for dust !
