I think us BF3 bummers are with you Paulyboy (you know what that means don't you?!) The campaign was very forgettable. I though it did a job by the numbers which is what FPS do these days. You want a story? Read a book, watch Hollyoaks. I want to shoot shit well and nick YFUs dogtags while living in fear of noticing Flipper RT on the other team. ALSO I WANT A GODDAM VIETNAM EXPANSION AND A GUEST APPEARANCE WITH KELLY BROOK AND JET LEZZING UP.

The main thing that has me excited is the knowledge that the game will look almost identical running on the next gen consoles as to what the gameplay trailer showed us.

The Single player campaign was ok nothing special. Its all about the MP if you ask me. It would be a ballsy move by DICE/EA to ditch single player and concentrate on MP only. Makes sense for the series. That way they could concentrate on themed map packs more such as the very excellent Vietnam expansion for BC2. Imagine the jungle setting in Frostbite 3 on a next gen console or high end PC...

Personally I think the game looks a huge step up from the BF3 visually. Us console owners will notice more

I'd be somewhat cautious with your expectations on that front if I were you!

I'm not saying it won't look like that, but I certainly wouldn't bet on it either. The next gen consoles specs, whilst impressive, don't necessarily indicate a Ninja PC experience is attainable just yet.

That said, without all the hardware bottlenecks and overheads of a PC OS, consoles usually punch well above their weight, so it the jury is still out.

I just think expectations need to be kept in check for the time being.

So is BF4 being released on both next and current gen?

So if it's out in Autumn and new consoles possibly for Christmas, what's the point in getting it for current gen?

I'm confused.

It's only been confirmed for PC, Xbox 360 & PS3 thus far.

I think next-gen versions are just pure speculation at this stage, although given the release window I'd wager it's an almost certainty at some stage.

But you're right, if next-gen versions are on the horizon, even if they follow a few months later, it renders a current gen purchase for consoles largely pointless, assuming you're interested in the next-gen that is.

Actually there's this. but it's not exactly an official confirmation in the strictest sense.

I think we'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure by the time this is due for release there will be more news on new consoles and we'll be able to make a decision.

As much as I'm looking forward to BF4 I wouldn't buy it twice.

Edit: I suppose they could always carry stats over to the new version which would make it viable

I can't see BF4 getting much support on the current gen. There is a new article on DICE approach to the current gen and the new consoles. Basically they want to focus on the next gen consoles and don't want to treak a new DICE engine for the Wii U. They are leaving the current gen behind and I don't think they will get much support when it comes to DLC.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-28-the-big-battlefield-4-interview-dice-leaves-technology-behind

What i had noticed on the console version. It made it more clear with the later installment of maps. 12 vs 12 doesn't work on open worlds and only best suited for either linear or urban environments. The open levels are just too big even on rush like on the End Game. There is to many places to approach from and little support against snipers.

Big up to the Chief for the co-op session tonight. That helicopter mission was fucking tense. Also the fact that's Scotsmam and a Brummie/Yam Yam could understand each other was remarkable, we both ought to have unlocked an achievement just for that

So I can't kill anything in a jet. Im trying to nail up the rest of the cheevs on this and on the B2K DLC I need to get that pesky jet kill and get a kill with a loader.....then the cheev for 3 kill types in one game?

I took to flying the jet around after laying mines in the hope I'd get a kill whilst I was in the jet. 5000 ticket game, not once

Would it help if I told you I got the three kill types by blind luck?

I think the easiest kill in a jet would be to heat-seeker a chopper.

Might even be easier just with guns. Get a chopper (oo-er) in your sights from a distance and feather the guns until it's dead.

Woo yeah etc! Finally got it. After realising my stupidity level was high I managed to change my loadout so that my heatseekers were on. Then got onto a game with some decent pilots on who just obliterated me. Eventually I got a good run at a chopper and unloaded my guns into him not killing the poor fucker and couldnt get out the way. My glorious jet smash finished him off. Achievement unlocked. A few minutes later I got a more legit kill on a jet with heatseekers.

I picked up Premium yesterday so it looks like this summers online fun is taken care of until BF4 is released or 'The Last Huzzah' as Im calling it. Surely the last big release for 360 as that Infinity thing is out Nov.

You know you could have saved yourself some hassle and just played Air Superiority now that you've got Premium. You'd have got a jet kill in about 30 seconds.

I know but having Premium go on offer I thought I'd pick it up. Anyway, yes it could have been quicker but Im a much better person for spending time with it and realising just how shit I am at killing in a jet.
