in fringe season 2 he looked very haggard IMO, his age, but not like an action hero!

Damn, it would have been worth it just for him to say to somebody, "Come quietly or there will be.... trouble."

Part man, part machine! What does it mean? What does it mean?

Maybe they can put him in a bomber jacket so he looks a little more bulky?

That could work. I wonder if Rourke will stay have the same hair as in the first one. Didn't he only have that because he was partway through Iron Man 2?

Okay, so here is another official plot synopsis for the sequel. It's the same one but goes into greater detail, so there be SPOILERS below!

'Stallone, Statham, Rourke, Lundgren, Couture and Crews return as hard-edged but noble mercenaries in the second installment of Sylvester Stallone’s old-school action thriller, The Expendables.

As payback for taking out the corrupt CIA agent Monroe (Eric Roberts) in the first Expendables, cagey Agent Church (Bruce Willis) forces the Expendables to do an “easy mission”: retrieve a missing CIA package from Gazak, a civil war torn country in Easter Europe.

The easy mission turns deadly when the Expendables are ambushed by a team of ruthless rival mercs, the Sangunaires, competing to get the same package. Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered by Vilain, the leader of the bloodthirsty guns for hire. Still, the Expendables manage to pull of the mission and return with the CIA package, but it’s a hollow victory.

As their thoughts turn from grief to revenge, Tool’s beautiful young daughter Fiona shows up. Cut from the same stone as her dad, she wants to join the Expendables when they hunt down Villain and his men. Barney (Stallone) promises her the Expendables will avenge Tool’s death, but will not risk putting his best friend’s daughter in harm’s way.

Fiona, who is young and wild, embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters for Barney when she is captured and ransomed by Vilain. Now Barney and the expendables must risk everything to save her, kidnapping CIA Agent Church and pulling off a daring heist of the CIA package they were hired to bring back.

When Agent Church reveals why the CIA package is so valuable to Vilain, the stakes go up even higher. Inside the package are canisters of radioactive cesium which Vilain has been tasked with releasing on the people’s uprising that threatens the thirty year rule of Gazak’s vicious dictator, President Dogot.

The Expendables, along with Agent Church, are now faced with an impossible mission: rescue Fiona, foil a dictator’s vicious plot to kill scores of innocent people, and avenge the death of one of their own.'

It looks as if Li and Carpenter aren't back. Source: http://www.joblo.com/horror-movies/news/confirmed-willis-schwarzenegger-to-join-sly-and-the-boys-for-expendables-2

Hate, hate, hate the stupid daughter getting kidnapped angle.

Arnie could barely walk in his brief appearance in the first- i thought it was quite embarrasing to watch. Why is Chuck Norris in this, I appreciate his cult status, but isnt he more a joke than an icon?

Chuck Norris was one of the most prominent action stars of the 1980's. Stallone has wanted to cast him in the sequel for a long time 'cos they're old buddies. That's the whole point.

Glad someone just mentioned the elephant in the room Kumar. The Arnie of today is not the Arnie of the 80's. I'm not so sure he's gonna bring the pain to be honest...

For me personally, even if Arnold and Chuck just make brief cameos without having to perform some sort of expected action/fight scene, it would still be worth it.

He did look a bit frail in the first one but he put the muscle back on for Terminator 3 after turning to flabinator, hopefully he'll shape up again. I remember Arnie saying that on the set of Predator there was a competition between all the actors to see who could bulk up the most, maybe a similar comeptitiveness with Sly will drive him to get back to the Arnie we know and love?

For what it's worth it's now been comfirmed him and Willis will have larger roles, so it's fair to say he will get back involved with the action...but he did look ancient in the last one. How old is he? Im sure he looked older than he is, there's no way he's too old. I agree, maybe some work in the gym and he'll be back fighting fit!!

lol well im sorry i wasnt old enough/alive to remember action stars of the 80s. So what if im missing the point? All I know about Chuck Norris comes from one Bruce Lee movie, endless DTV shite, an apparently hilarious dodgeball cameo and Chuck Norris jokes. Hardly awe inspiring IMO.

Too bad. When I was growing up in the 1980's, the video charts were dominated by the films of Arnold, Sylvester and Chuck - the films he made with the legendary CANNON GROUP were cracking little actioners - INVASION USA, FIREWALKER, the MISSING IN ACTION Trilogy and THE DELTA FORCE to name a few. Anyway, if you don't have time for all the old-school action heroes, why bother posting here?

It's quite simple really - it's like having all your favourite Superheroes team-up for one big battle in a Giant-Size comic-book adventure. I mean, that's why Snake-Eyes LOVES THE EXPENDABLES!

My one hope for this film is that since it's called The Expendables that some of the team actually get... expended. The one thing that disappointed me with the first was that I never felt any danger for any of the team. The trailer made it look like that Jet Li was gunna get done in but I was pretty confident the main three (Sly, Statham and Li) would survive. But not all of them!
