the recast of characters in 'star trek '09' has changed game on remakes/reboots.

Yeah, read that earlier. Sounds a bit like Prison Break crossed with Law Abiding Citizen.
Wonder what Arnies participation would be. Prison Warden? Inmate? Villian?
Stallone has done prison drama before to good effect. Lock Up is vastly underrated and the prison sequence in Tango & Cash is a classic. So ol' Sly has form for breaking out of prison! With this possibly rolling ahead and the upcoming Bullet to the head and EX2, my trips to the flicks could become more and more common!

After watching Warrior, I believe Tom Hardy, who I guess falls under the title of the 'new' kind of action hero as he's the new Mad Max, could probably put the likes of Van Damme through a wall.

He ain't the new Mad Max YET. And if there's any f**king justice in the world, it will never happen. Mel Gibson is Mad Max. THAT IS IT.
Exactly. And can you believe that Colin Farrell is the Quaid in the Total Recall re-make?? Arnie to Farrell? Sweet baby Jesus on the cross, it's like making Ryan Phillipe the new John Mc Clane. Pure shite.

sorry but i think colin may make more plausible quaid than arnie this time.

Half of you won't care but I'm happy to say Charisma Carpenter is back for Expendables 2. She starts shooting her stuff tomorrow. According to her Twitter she's with the whole gang this time.

Yeah, was thinking her role will probs be tiny. They've almost finished filming now ain't they? Would have loved to see her get stuck in with the action, not only is she a looker but she's one of few who never needed a dodgey stuntman in a wig during her Angel days. Trained dancer meant she did all her fighting herself.

Poster, not sure it's genuine:

I do like that but the cast above Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis must be standing on stilts.

if it is genuine it gives a bit of a mixed signal, given that Van Damme is shown with the Expendables team and he is the villian of the piece...

Still very excited though!

Cool poster, though C.Norris looks slightly bewildered and maybe, just maybe, looks abit out of place.

I generally hope this film does well though. It may not be my 'cup of tea' but hey it has Arnie,Willis and Stallone!!,cant beat that for nostalgic 90's action cast.

Old News. Apparently it's a fake but I personally reckon it was 'leaked'. I like it as a poster anyway and I have it as part of my 'Sly Movies' screensaver. The 'official' poster is just as cool.

As we speak, Sly, Jet and a few of the other guys are filming the final scenes in Hong Kong. CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

Methinks Mr Norris is completely serious. He's a right God-botherer these days...

Of course, I doubt the studio will care what he thinks and I don't think he has anywhere near the clout he thinks he does.

is bollocks. He's been a lot of violent films with 'vulgar dialogue' (hence my thinking he was being sarcastic).

I do hope it's not a PG-13 but if it is, there's not much we can do about it, really.

Yep. Looks like it's true. Here's what Sly told ol' fat boy over at AICN:

"Harry, the film is fantastic with Van Damme turning in an inspired performance... Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry...Sly"

I am a wee bit gutted... But the rating doesn't reflect the quality of the film. Still, this is a Sly action film; it should be aimed at a mature audience. 'Director's Cut' methinks....

PG-13? Just because Chuck Norris has become a massive pussy? Something's not right.

The first film was suitably brutal. But all these action stars, what are they gonna be doing in this one, tickling the bad guys to death?

But, if it's just the language they're talking about...?

Oh, he's a massive right-wing evangelical loon these days. I say this with the utmost respect, because he is Chuck Norris and people love him, but the man is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Norris#Christianity

Plus he has said he supports right wing survivalist groups that want to overthrow the government. And he wants Texas to be an independent country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Norris#Political_views

Saying that, he is backing Ron Paul and based on things he's said in the past (namely about homosexuals), I'd have put him firmly in the Santorum club.

Anyway, PG-13.... yeah... surprising. Still, the studio wants it to be a hit... despite the last one being an R....

Proof that the world is going to end this year.Chuck Norris TURNS INTO A FUCKING PUSSY!

Expendables 2 is going to be PG-13? Seriously? A film which unites the biggest bad asses in action movie history and its fucking PG 13? Just because Chuck has lost his balls?

Fuck you Chuck Norris and fuck YOU Stallone giving in to his pussy demands!

Wasn’t hilarious amounts of ultra violence the only thing the first one had going for it? It’s why I enjoyed it!

This is like taking out the meat (quite literally in the case of this lot) and just having a lettuce sandwich. No one wants lettuce sandwiches... apart from Chuck Norris it would seem

So does PG-13 pretty much translate to 12A over here? Don't really get the American ratings, it seems kids can get into anything as long as there's an adult with them. What's the diff between PG-13 and R? The biggest problem I can see for a big action film taking a change like this is the use of blood in the violence - it'll be dramatically toned down for a 12A right?

Think 12A (PG 13) 15 (R) and 18 (NC 17) Think that's pretty much it.

So the jump may not be too drastic. If the first had been an NC 17 (which nothing is now as studios avoid like the plague I think) it would be a much bigger issue. Will still be quite noticeable though should think.

Nah, PG-13 can equal 15 over here too (The Grudge, The Ring, Insidious etc) and R can be 15 or 18 (the first Expendables was R and is an 18 uncut in the UK)

I'm out. The whole point of The Expendables was to go back to the good old days of OTT violence so we don't end up with watered down shit like Die Hard 4.0 and now EX2 is going down the same route. Norris is only in this thing because of those facts, he's one Expendable too many and now the film will suffer. Fuck that. When is The Raid out?

Do people really think that Chuck Norris - star of Sidekicks and a bunch of other movies that made precisely zero box office - and his fear of dirty words is the reason this movie has been aiming for a PG-13? Isn't it more the case that the first movie was an unexpected hit, particularly on home video, and as a result the studio wanted to open up the theater doors as widely as they possibly could? That's just simple movie-making economics right there.
