Are people going for 3D or not 3D with their advance bookings?

I'm a bit concerned I will not be able to see Prometheus on day one. I don't want to see a film set in a dark environment in 3d and my perferred cinema only shows a handful of 2d showings. Might give it a few days and see an early 2d showing on my day off.

I don't normally like 3D although it was the best medium with Avatar.

I'm on the fence.

Yeah I'd say the 3D will be fine in this.

It's out on the day of my brother's wedding rehearsal, would it be bad form to skip the rehearsal to see this?

I doubt the 3D would be bad on this, but the fact that it seems quite dark means I'm opting for 2D.  The detail in R. Scott films is immense and I don't want to miss  jot due to smudgy glasses.

Though if 2D was all sold out on the first day and only 3D was available I would have no issues.

As one with some experience in such matters, I say yes.

My brother sprang a surprise wedding on us years back. On the exact same day I had booked tickets to see Phantom Menace. Bailed right after the I do’s.

But let’s hope this is worth it and that Prometheus doesn’t turn out to be a woeful turd like PM...

I'm confident it will be at least 736 times better than Phantom Menace. And I'm sure your brother understands.

Oh and I'm booked into IMAX 3D....which normally I wouldnt go for (the 3D that is) but I'm hedging my bets that this will be worth it.

The film was fully shot in 3D using proper 3D equipment and is not a retrofit, ergo you should really see it in 3D, as I am on 6th June in my local Vue's biggest screen.

2D. I'm kicking it old school on this one.

The technology needs to improve for me to consider watching 3D again.

As it's natural 3D and not a retrofit I'll probably watch it in 3D.

Saw the trailer in 3D before Avengers and it looked great.

I don't know if it's true? Fox were doing special screenings of Prometheus to get feedback but some of the guests been posting spoilers through twitter. I haven't read the comments myself but only glancing forum posts relating to the comments. I didn't spoil myself too bad except

* Why Weyland company fund the trip
* 20th Fox didn't show the final ten to twenty minutes of the film.
* What in the canisters

Becareful chaps. Thankfully the leaker isn't a fan of the series or otherwise she of may spoiled the scene when the screening ends.

Yeah I read that also.

Unsure whether the lady who was on Twitter is for real, but when you read it all it does look genuine or else it's a great bluff by Fox.

Interesting points about Vickers, the SJ suit and a couple of other things (if true).

BTW what was the bit about why Weyland fund the mission? I missed that bit.

Weylad site has updated with a Press page:

http://www.weylandindustries.com/press

“Who knows where Weyland will go next or what our Prometheus crews will discover while traveling to each of our unique terraformed colonies and beyond, extending the reaches of the known universe?”

Bad and horrible things!!!

I'd listen to all the tracks and nothing blew me away. However what I heard does capture the mood of the film and that's the main thing. It's a shame the music isn't in the same leage of Alien 3 but like I said the music suit the film well.

I've listened through the score a few times and I actually like it a whole lot. Considering that I was disappointed by Marc Streitenfeld's involvement (he's serviceable but not much else in my opinion) that's quite a thing for me. The atmosphere it creates just works for me and I especially love that it reprises Goldsmith's Alien Main Titles and recreates Goldenthal's signature industrial brass sound from Alien 3 for the action cues. My favourite tracks so far are "A Planet", "Life", "Hammerpede" and "Friend from the Past" It actually features far more of the alien franchise than I thought it was going to.

The impression i get from interviews is that Ridley only filmed it in 3D out of compromise to justify the big budget for such an adult based sci fi horror.Films do not need 3D to be enjoyed. Its just a money grabbing gimmick.Look at it this way, have you ever watched Alien and said '' if only this film was in 3D ''.A film like this needs good productio values, good actors, good dialogue, good story(etc).3D NOT NEEDED!

This film is a 2D only outing for me.
If the film itself wont immerse me then what is 3D going to do?,give me a head-ache thats what....

BEWARE!!!! If you follow those Prometheus guys on FB be careful looking at your news feeds. They've linked to a new TV spot including that it has spoilers. Great! I wont watch that i thought... Except the little picture on the feed post is a massive f*cking spoiler in itself! Do not look!!! I did and I'm miffed!

Pretty sure the world and his wife is aware and excited now. No more promos please.
