Hello.

As you all know, I j'adore Bob Dylan. He is a good man with good albums. More than this, now he is old I feel good when I look at pictures of him and imagine him on all fours playing his harmonica like there's no tomorrow.

I will be providing an alternative look at his studio album discography which will include both interesting and informal categories, as well as shit ones Olaf gave me. I hope you enjoy, the first one will be up soon.

Also Known As The first one, where his hair is still short and his songs are still in a book.

What Does The Title Mean? There's been much rumouring about the name of Bob Dylan's first album, but general consensus seems to think that, like Indiana Jones, he got the name off his dog. His real name is Glen McLivet.

What Is The Cover Art? It's singer-songwriter Glen McLivet posing, both smug and insecure while holding the only possession he's ever known; a big pencil he won at the fair.

Critic Says "Like Elvis Presley, what Dylan can sing, he quickly masters; what he can't, he twists to his own devices." - Tim Riley. This means that Dylan can sing everything.

Croaky Bob-O-Meter 7 - Strangely, seeing as he's still so young, earnest Bob throws himself into the songs and strains his voice at times. He would soon learn. Oh yes he would.

Joni Mitchell Hates Probably the only two on the album Bob wrote himself; the others being covers, pretentious Joni has little time for those who listen to other people's songs.

Bob's Hair Is Short and wiry, although you can tell soon it'll turn into the Jew fro we all know and love. Hid under a cap on this one though. Maybe a bird has made a nest under it. His hair could also be mistaken for his Motty coat.

Interesting Fact I've Made Up Related To This Album In his first studio session, Bob tried to pay for a can of Tango in a vending machine; the refusal of the machine to give it up caused such stress on him that he shot John F Kennedy.

Number Of References To Animals 3 - lion, dove and horses. Pathetic menagerie, Bob.

Top 3 Songs 1. Man Of Constant Sorrow, 2. House Of The Rising Sun, 3. Song To Woody

Album Placing 23 (out of 34). Okay for his first album, but Bob knew that like his beloved Lincoln City, his career was in danger of being relegated from the npower leagues.

Blowin' In The Wind - Girl From The North Country - Masters Of War - Down The Highway - Bob Dylan's Blues - A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right - Oxford Town - Talkin' World War III Blues - Corrina Corrina - Honey, Just Allow Me One More Chance - I Shall Be Free


Also Known As The first great one, plus Bobby is getting his pussy according to the cover art. WELL DONE.

What Does The Title Mean? Freewheelin' would imply that he's carefree and jovial, but the nature of the songs beg to differ. Ironic, ambiguous? All I know is he's being a bastard for the sake of being a bastard.

What Is The Cover Art? Like I say, the iconic image with Suze Rotolo means she was willing to be photographed for his pleasure. Rumours consisting of a naked Rotolo and the snow replaced by horse semen have yet to be denied.

Critic Says "For students whose exam courses included Eliot and Yeats, here was something that flattered their expanding intellect while appealing to the teenage rebel in their early-sixties souls. James Dean had walked around reading James Joyce." - Richard Williams. James Dean? The James Dean who suffered a vehicle crash similar to sweet Bob. Why, this smacks of conspiracy.

Croaky Bob-O-Meter 2 - His voice sounds like an angel cumming on this one. It's sweet, melodic, and just as beautiful as Idris Elba in Luther.

Joni Mitchell Hates The melodies are lifted from old folk tunes, so Joni is probably spinning in her ivory tower. If she has a merry go round, it's okay, and it also makes her sound fun because she can't be a pretentious old bitch all the time.

Bob's Hair Is Quiffy! Morrissey and Aiden's father has been discovered. Suze's hair is also quite nice. But what if Bob ruined it with his songwriting spunk? Meaning vim and vigour of course. Not jizz.

Interesting Fact I've Made Up Related To This Album Dylan tried to storyboard the iconic walk through Greenwich Village, but the giant pencil he held in his first album snapped. Dylan was so furious he shot Carlos Crespo, 7th Count of Castillo Fiel

Number Of References To Animals A respectable 8 - dove, wolves, pony, dog, rooster, bird, duck and skunk. And he says breast in Girl From The North Country, which is an altogether different type of animal.

What Does The Title Mean? The title is distinctly ambiguous. What can it mean? (answers below.)

What Is The Cover Art? The cover art depicts Bob giving his sexiest supermodel pout whilst looking into the distance. Possibly at someone's shoe, most probably that of John Lennon.

Critic Says they mostly say that the tunes are good. I'm too tired to look.

Croaky Bob-O-Meter 1 - it's as nasally as it gets I think. Not a croak to be found.

Joni Mitchell Hates I bet Joni loves this one. It's got folk music and accusatory protest music, which any gal from the mid-60s who hasn't washed lately will be into.

Bob's Hair Is short and stoic, reflecting his new direction. Very austere on all counts. GOOD WORK ON THE AESTHETIC CONSISTENCY BOB

Interesting Fact I've Made Up Related To This Album The idea of putting "a-" before verbs originates in the work of obscure 1850s playwright Tinchy Stryder, whose famed long work "The Question I Am A-Asking A Teacher", inspired Bob's hero WOODY GUTHRIE.

 For 'Tell Me That Isn't True', Bob took his inspiration from the banning of EpiD. The real pain was that he could no longer locate him via his IP address for when his bi-monthly enema was due.

What Is The Cover Art? Also the cover for Bob's first foray into porn, Another Ride For Bob Dylan. It was mediocre at best, with only Suze Rotolo feeling the wrath of his whimsical folk penis.

Critic Says "An unqualified failure of taste and self-critical awareness." - David Horowitz. So's your face David Horowitz. So's your face.

 I tend to find Dylan a bit dull after a while. He certainly has some terrific songs in his catalogue but I get a bit bored after listening to more than half a dozen or so because a lot of them sound fairly similar.

That said, I only have Highway 61 and a best-of, so I can be persuaded otherwise.

Also Known As The first rocky one. But alas, Bob pussies out and does half acoustic as well. Way to not stick it to the man, Bob.

What Does The Title Mean? Bob was flat sharing with James Mason when he broke up with his girlfriend, but after a romantic dinner was allowed to move back in. He moved all his possessions back into the house.

What Is The Cover Art? It is Bob collecting his possessions while the glare of James Mason sears into his back. Also, someone seems to have left a coffee mug on the image. Careless.

Critic Says "By fusing the Chuck Berry beat of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles with the leftist, folk tradition of the folk revival, Dylan really had brought it back home, creating a new kind of rock & roll [...] that made every type of artistic tradition available to rock." - Clinton Heylin. What a name dropper.

Croaky Bob-O-Meter 5 - not croaky, but sometimes stretches his voice. He would perfect his rock voice soon but for now, just acted like an over enthusiastic Jewish person releasing an album.

Joni Mitchell Hates Everything. Where are the ballads? Is Mr Tambourine Man about drugs? Why is there no big yellow taxi in Bob's songs? She would not care if he plagiarised her.

Bob's Hair Is Notably curly. L'Oreal had dropped Bob as sponsor and thus he was protesting. NOT TOO DIFFERENT FROM HIS EARLY WORK AFTER ALL LOL

Interesting Fact I've Made Up Related To This Album The porn spin-off starring Joan Baez and Allen Ginsberg 'Cumming It All On Back' failed to make US cinemas, due to a controversial scene where Baez plays a harmonica through Ginsberg's digestive system.

Number Of References To Animals 14 - duck, horse, frog, monkey, hog, dog, whale, cow, gull, sparrow, bird, dwarf, rat, reindeer. He manages to get through the whole of a song about a farm without naming an animal though, impressive.

Album Placing 4th. A Champion's League spot for Bobbo. Like Tottenham and Harry Redknapp, he too was now entertaining and a favourite of die hards and neutrals. He didn't have meatflap face though.

What Does The Title Mean? Highway 61 was the name of Bob's favourite restaurant as a child, where Rocky Marciano used to take him after a particularly gruelling bout (of lovemaking). He revisited it as an adult and got the steak. It wasn't as nice, the peppercorn sauce tasted different. Consumerism, eh?

What Is The Cover Art? OH NO, BOB IS ABOUT TO BE ORALLY RAPED. SOMEONE STOP IT. NO ACTUALLY LET'S TAKE PICTURES.

Interesting Fact I've Made Up Related To This Album Due to Bob's recording sessions being extremely strenuous, he actually died halfway through and was replaced by Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for his portrayal of Carlton Banks in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Bob was so ecstatic with his work that he vowed never to live again, and as such each subsequent album has featured Alfonso's vocals as well. Except for Knocked Out Loaded, that was Satan.
