 Apologies for late reply (along with any confusion about closing dates). I've included your list in the count.

also, as you may have noticed, the 100-76 of this year's list is now up: http://www.empireonline.com/forum/tm.asp?m=3057773 Rather than starting another thread to discuss it, I figured that this one could do as a discussion thread. (also let me know if you want to do any blurbs - I've put in a few sentences as placeholders, but I'm looking for proper blurbs from people too.)

 The Smiths, Pink Moon, Bone Machine, Scott 4, Rum Sodomy & the Lash, Let Love In and Blue Valentine being there means this list should be great.

Out of interest, did albums need to have made two lists to get into the top 100?

 Thoughts on those listed so far which I've actually heard (edit: I'll add my favourite song in brackets, like in the main list):

After The Gold Rush - pretty good; not as good as Rust Never Sleeps though (Don't Let It Bring You Down)
The Smiths - clearly their weakest album but some great songs still (Hand In Glove)
Slanted and Enchanted - I don't really "get" Pavement. I love some songs off Crooked Rain and Brighten The Corners but this doesn't do much for me. (Summer Babe)
The Wall - mixed, but excellent in parts (Comfortably Numb being the obvious standout). Still the weakest of Floyd's 70s albums. (Comfortably Numb)
The Downward Spiral - fantastic album, one of my favourites. A downbeat masterpiece. (Closer)
Sound Of Silver - only recently 'acquired' this and it's yet to really click, although I like All My Friends, North American Scum and Someone Great (All My Friends)
Let Love In - I've only recently got into Nick Cave and I love this album, not a bad song on it. I'll need to get more of his. (Red Right Hand)
Ride The Lightning - superb album and yet still not as good as Puppets, Justice or Black - just shows how amazing Metallica were back then. (Fade To Black)
The Fat Of The Land - the obvious singles are great, haven't listened to the rest enough. (Breathe)
Whatever People Say About Me... - more than a bit overhyped but still several very good songs on it (A View From The Afternoon)
Modern life Is Rubbish - tails a bit towards the end but it's still a cracking album (Advert)
Neon Bible - good in bits (Intervention is their best song) but patchy and not as good as Funeral or Suburbs. (Intervention)
Rage Against The Machine - not a huge fan; Killing In The Name Of and Wake Up are great though. (Killing...)
Abbey Road - toss-up between this and Rubber Soul for my favourite Beatles album. I'd still skip a few songs but I Want You (She's So Heavy) and Here Comes The Sun are immense. Plus, y'know, Maxwell's Silver Hammer is pretty good too. (I Want You (she's so heavy))
Screamadelica - listened once, didn't like it. They're playing it at a festival this summer so I'll need to try again. (dunno... prob Come Together)
Wish You Were Here - brilliant, probably Pink Floyd's best album. (Wish You Were Here)
White Blood Cells - patchy, but most likely their best album, just cos it's got Fell In love With A Girl on it. (FILWAG)
Vs - cracking album, better overall than Ten. (Rearviewmirror)
Rubber Soul - as mentioned above, could be my favourite Beatles album. Especially for Norwegian Wood and In My Life. (the latter)
Pinkerton - amazing album. definitely better than Blue. (at the mo, Butterfly, could be any of about six though)
Parklife - on balance, probably my favourite Blur album; another one I'm pleased to see make it. (Girls and Boys)

 On the next few:

Dog Man Star - Very good, always preferred Coming Up though (We Are The Pigs)
London Calling - never got the fuss over this. Some good stuff, some rubbish (Brand New Cadillac)
Elephant - it's alright, I guess. Not their biggest fan, me. (The HArdest Button to Button)
Mellon Collie - overlong but superb at times (Zero)
Definitely Maybe - so Oasis are better than Blur then? Cracking album. (Cigarettes and Alcohol)
Origin of Symmetry - probably their best effort (New Born)
Grace - a wee bit overrated but very good nonetheless (Forget Her)
Morning Glory - one of my favourites ever - better than the debut so I'm glad it's higher (Champagne Supernova)
Led Zep IV - some of it's great, at least. LZ I is better though. (Stairway to Heaven)
Ten - half amazing, half average (Alive)
Sgt Peppers - influential maybe, but the songs are much weaker than their other albums (Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds)
Velvet Underground - quite like this. Most of it, anyway. (Sunday Morning)
Automatic for the People - I prefer their early 90s stuff to their 80s work, and this would be their best. (Drive)
Dark Side of the Moon - classic obviously, last few songs let it down a tad (Time)

Not really, Appetite did well enough and the best Radiohead album is the highest-placing. There is a notable lack of hard rock/metal in the list but that's to be expected around here.

The remainder:

Appetite For Destruction - just about flawless, a masterpiece (Welcome To The Jungle)
The Suburbs - pretty good, an improvement on Neon Bible (We Used To Wait)
The Queen Is Dead - brilliant (There Is A Light That Never Goes Out)
Different Class- also brilliant (Something Changed)
The Holy Bible - even more brilliant, probably my favourite album ever (Archives Of Pain)
Doolittle - very good, tails off a little at the end (Tame)
Strangeways Here We Come - glad to see it getting recognition, it's superb (Paint A Vulgar Picture)
Is This It - utter cack, sorry. I'd be more indifferent to it if it wasn't routinely hailed as "the album that saved rock music". (The Modern Age).
The Stone Roses - brilliant (I Wanna Be Adored)
Born To Run - yeah it's OK, haven't listened to it enough (Born To Run)
Nevermind - awesome (Come As You Are)
Loveless - it's not bad, aye. (Only Shallow)
Highway 61 Revisited - pretty good (Desolation Row)
Ziggy Stardust - mostly excellent (Suffragette City)
Revolver - bit mixed, often great (And Your Bird Can Sing)
The White Album - more mixed, guess that's the nature of the beast (Helter Skelter)
Kid A - meh, does nothing for me (How To Disappear Completely)
OK Computer - mostly not bad, occasionally brilliant (No Surprises)
The Bends - definitely their best (Fake Plastic Trees)
Funeral - can't argue with this (Rebellion (Lies))

Overall that's a pretty good list, especially the top 25. I'd heard more of them than I thought.

 That's a surprisingly good list except for 89,was that an April Fools thing.
I got 6 in the top 20 plus there's another 3 or 4 I could easily have had if our lists were 30 instead of 20.
No Jam,Sonic Youth or Cat Power,that's a shame.

 Very disappointed about MiM's absence but good list nonetheless. I expected Strangeways to break the 10 this year but alas. Funeral is amazing of course.

 I'd just like to chip in that now I have actually listened to Arcade Fire I can confirm that they fully deserve their place at the top, although I think I prefer the Suburbs. Maybe.

I think I just prefer Suburbs; Funeral has the better stand out songs but as a cohesive album which came along just at the right time in my life, Suburbs is just incredible. And Neon Bible is awesome as well, let's not deny that; although are you allowed to listen to that one?
