Its a shame there isnt a thread for ' most odious actors in film' (Danny Dire, Jude law, Russell Crowe...)
but as its most hated characters here I'd go with Percy in the Green Mile also.

After watching Dead Man's Shoes for the first time last night, I fully agree with the hate for Sonny and his mob - despicable.

I'm not sure if he really belongs in this thread due to the outright comedic nature of the film, but Bill Lumbergh from Office Space has very little in the way of redeeming features!

It's usually the complete psychos that get the biggest reaction from me, especially when they're as well played as the following lot.
I've already mentioned Kathy Bates character from Misery, I'll add these, (some may have already been mentioned,apologies).

Norman Bates, your original psycho,

Kevin Spacey's chilling John Doe in Se7en ,

The Talented Mr Damon's Ripley,

Frank Booth from Blue Velvet, a character so over the top crazy he might elicit a love - hate response from the audience at first but hate wins out in the end.

and possibly the worst of the lot, The Preacher, Harry Powell from Night Of The Hunter, not your average con-man / predator,

A more recent offering would be this guy - the father in Dogtooth.

A quietly brilliant performance but the motivations (or lack thereof) for his actions really disturbed me. The way he treats his children and has them totally under his control and then unflinchingly acts as if its for their benefit makes him a truly odious character.

Indeed, he's definitely found his calling as a director. Gone Baby Gone and The Town are both excellent.

I like Affleck too. He finally learned to take his career seriously and stop hanging around Kevin Smith. And look at the films he made as a result.

Affleck is inconsistent as an actor but he's turning out to be a pretty damn good director.

Gone Baby Gone was a terrific piece of work, and The Town wasn't too shabby either.
