 Richard Roxburghe as The Duke in Moulin Rouge! Utter, utter bastard, but really good at it.

Mark Strong as Frank D'Amico in Kick-Ass.

Also, Peter Serafinowisz in Shaun of the Dead. You just know he was gonna get what was coming to him for being such a prick to Shaun and Ed!

Frank D'Amico is a brilliant choice, Mark Strong is excellent anyway but that scene where he is beating up Hit Girl sucks the breath right out of you its so despicable.

I'd suggest Karl Hardman as Harry in the original Night of the Living Dead.  A weasely, mysoginistic, cowardly, cellar-dwelling asshole.  Much like Mrs Carmody though he's an excellent human antagonist to balance the horror outside.

 Elijah Wood in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I can't stand the little bastard in anything but he uses every ounce of "annoyability" in that role and I truly hated his character. Partly because of the way it was written, partly because of Wood.

Aaron Eckhart's character in In The Company Of Men, an absolutely note perfect portrayal of every wanky eighties chump ever to walk the earth, manifested in one guy.

Less satisfying to watch, Frances McDormand in Burn After Reading, I wanted to kick her hard in the clam every time she opened her gob.

 Sean Nokes in Sleepers has to be up there.  An absolute vile human being.  One of the few times that i can remember watching a film and thinking that he deserved a more painful, slow and violent death for what he did to those boys.  Also Nurse Ratched in One Floo Over The Cuckoos Nest is one of cinema's greatest villains, and very easy to hate.

The reason he encouraged his girlfriend and bullied his sick friend to skip school was to have a day together before heading off in different directions post High School and he doesn't want to do it alone.

Cameron isn't on the verge of a nervous breakdown, he is reticent and has a bad relationship with his father. He goes a little nuts when Ferris reveals that the mileage has increased vastly on his father's prized car and so knowing his father will be pissed, freaks out slightly.  Cameron accidently trashes his father's car and goes into a fake catatonic state until he realises he isn't a child but an adult and can actually stand up to his dad and take responsibility for his actions.  

The message  of the film is apparently not to let life pass you bye and to engage with the wonderful world around you, unfortunately the voice spouting this interesting and somewhat affable belief is a selfish, manipulative, smug, tit.
