Never liked Kidman, although she was fairly in good in the film. Too bad the rest of it was shite.
Craig's head looks like it's been superimposed from some Bond publicity material.

Superbad.

It's like that joke the guy tells at the office party and everyone promptly shits themselves laughing while you stand there dumbfounded. A friend called me clinically depressed for not finding this film remotely funny and I really didn't. Dick fetishes and menstrual blood - oh the hilarity.

I find Nicole Kidman more artifical than Tom Cruise (if that makes any sense).

So you're one of them

I know it isn't exactly a masterpiece, but I thought the first Pirates of the Carribean was funny and entertaining so I was really excited a second and third film were coming out. But I was disappointed. Twice...
Some people are going to hate me but I never really loved E.T.*sigh* There, I've said it!

I thought it was...alright.  It was a bog-standard teen film, no more, no less.  I was fairly disappointed considering the massive word of mouth it had been getting.

It has to be Indy 4 now. The hype for this was enormous but all we got, in my opinion, was a very average movie. I hope to God this will not be the same with The Dark Knight

This is the first film i thought of when i saw the name of this thread

i thought the exact same as you pettsy - the first 35 mins were pretty ace. then when the cops came onto screen - thats just when it went downhill. fast. I thought knocked up was 10 times better.

Nice thread.

Shaun of the Dead was a real disappointment for me, apparently the funniest movie for years....Unoriginal and Ed annoyed the pants off me. That said, i went into HF with little expectations and found it hilarious.

Lady Vengeance: Good film, but i adored Oldboy and heard that this was even better, so was sorely let down to find it was nothing on OB.

And honestly.....2001: ASO was kinda a let down, i'd heard it was a cinematic revoultion (not arguing that) but i've seen stoned snails that move quicker along......

Get out! lol. Munich is brilliant :)

I was really dissapointed in Troy actually, mainly because it had some really good bits and spectacle wise it looked fantastic but Achilles was turned into just another generic action hero and Orlando Bloom was in it :(

Same with Thank You For Not Smoking. Dull as ditchwater IMO.

I'd have said Spider-man 3 was the king of hype that didn't quite deliver (i love it until Venom shows up) but Indy seems to be taking it's crown. Thing with Pirates movies was although they were hyped, after the second one i don't think anyone expected too much of the third. I know i sure as hell didn't.

Alexander and X-Men 3 I found really disappointing in recent years.

I don't see why a lot on this thread dislike Munich.  I thought it was powerful filmmaking from Spielberg.  I'd say it's his best film of the past few years.

Also, I'll add The Incredibles to the list.

Munic is IMO the best film Spielberg has done since Close Encounters.

Couldnt agree more mate, Superbad was strictly average, i thought Rogen and Cera were the best things in it

The Matrix Revolutions. I was so looking forward to that film and I came out of the cinema feeling totally dejected. I watched it again recently, obviously without the expectation, and I (kind of) enjoyed it this time. The Kid is still a shit character though.

Munich was bloody brilliant tho, so many memorable scenes. Cannot really see why anyone would find it boring, you know what its about before you see it (pretty weighty and controversial) and I agree with the guy who said its his best film since Close Encounters.

I know a fair few people were looking forward to this (myself included), but I wasn't aware that there was [positive] hype for it. Every review I read for it was pretty damning and there wasn't much of a marketing campaign.

(But I liked it).

Anchorman. After having so many people telling me it was the funniest film ever made i was so disappointed. It wasn't bad or anything just not as brilliant as everyone made out

I'm going to have to say the original versions of The Ring, The Eye and Dark Water...I am giving A Tale of Two Sisters a go tonight but I have been sorely let down by J-Horrors...they just aren't scarey despite what it says on the box!

300 - bored me to sleep
The Hulk - thought it was a mess
X-Men 2 - Good is all I can say, nothing more.  Only watched it once on DVD after the cinema release.
Cloverfield - Best cinema screening I've ever been too...for the fact everyone shouting in disgust at how poor the film was.
Hot Fuzz - Shaun Of The Dead is a classic in my eyes.  This just didnt know what it was and felt like a spoof.
Spiderman 3 - Spiderman 2 is one of the best comic book films ever made.  This drove into Batman and Robin territory.
Sin City - Just felt hollow.  Lifeless for all its gloss.
Pan Labyrinth - Peter Jackson did the same type of thing with Heavenly Creatures but better.  Looks great but the fantasy stuff was rather pointless.
