The first two tracks (Obliviate and Snape to Malfoy Manor) were to my mind the most memorable ones. I think this OST served its purpose with regard to the film's scenes quite adequately, in that much like the scenes themselves, the respective tracks were far from remarkable, with some exceptions, naturally, and these were somewhat exceptional only in degree, not in vast difference of merit to the rest. Desplat's rather plain and ordinary music merely followed in the film's wake, which would be in all ways acceptable, but for the OSTs of the previous instalments, which I found vastly superior, when examined separately from the films 1-5, i.e when extracted from their intended context. And it is this detail that makes it hard for me, as much as I found Desplat's take on HP 7 dull, to condemn his work: if you listen to his soundtrack as an individual work, it is kind of run of the mill for a man of his skill; on the other hand, keeping in mind that an OST is first and foremost intended to work inside a film, then I have to say that albeit unremarkable it is not the worst piece of music I have ever heard. However, in only a handful of moments did I notice any power to the music, any true capacity to convey emotion or portent.
