I re-read that three times until I realised you hadn't edited it at all.
Disappointed.

It's colder than a witch's tit

I'd now like Chief to explain this phrase too.

A witch's tit is a slang term for the top of a mountain, because of the shape, which is usually covered in snow and cold.

Whoa!

Just been out on a walk through town to enjoy the snow. To be honest it was all slush by 9 but it's the paid day off that counts.

Snow days are weird though, because I still get up and ready early in anticipation for work, I find myself with loads more free time than I'd normally have on a day off, but nothing to fill it with. I'm seeing Django Unchained tonight but I've seen everything else at my local cinema.

I did get some lovely photo's though:

If she's lucky it is.

So today when the weather is not so bad and the roads pretty clear they close work early.

Sounds very plausible, and much better than the supposed origin of the saying in which "cold" has the sense of lacking emotion as opposed to low temperature.  Apparently t's all to do with witches only using their teats to suckle their familiars, and therefore they do so without the warmth of maternal attachment.

Bitterly snow in my neck of the woods, but not a snowflake in sight.

Very fine snow here which is blowing all over the place, but no where near the levels predicted. I would have been fine coming home my normal time by the look of it.

I can't understand why some people would want to drive in this weather. No doubt premiums will shoot up after witnessings several close calls and saw multiple cars with bodywork damage. However I wished I had a video camera with me earlier. There was a great spot of cars skidding while driving up the hill and sliding into the oposite oncoming traffic.

I have seen loads of cyclists over the last few days. Usually when there is snow there are none. Maybe a few more cases for the Darwin awards?

Maybe they are fully aware a lot of drivers can't drive in the snow. Today I saw a bus with a damage bumper and no doubt some silly sod drove into it. Unless the bus drive happily drive on the wrong side of the road and got a thing about crashing into bollards.

However I did see some cyclist, a few motorbikes and acouple chavpeds.

I also had a four wheel drive go speeding past on as I followed another car up an incline covered in ice yesterday. He decided that 25 miles an hour in a 30 mile zone was not fast enough so overtook us both (wheels spinning as he went). I then had to follow him for the rest of the journey because all he achieved was gaining was getting one car ahead as no one else was driving like a maniac that day. It turned out he was taking his child to drop them off at school (I think he had done something similar before as the passenger door had a big dent). The problem is that 4 wheel drives whilst slightly more stable when pulling away can skid just as easily when they hit ice but a lot of the drivers are too stupid to realise it being school run drivers (in this case an actual one).

That is a Sunday well spent.

Presently about an inch an a half of snow since 3.30 p.m. and it is still falling at this time, fine but heavy.

I have to decide whether to go to a meeting out east tomorrow - with the constant amber warnings and warnings of public transport disruptions and 2/3rds supposed to be coming from places heavily hit.

It never ceases to amaze me how utterly stupid a lot of people are when driving through the snow and ice. I was overtaken with minimal room slowing down before a roundabout by a nutcase coach driver who was switching lanes every 20 seconds and generally getting too close to other cars. When will some people learn these are not normal conditions!

Even in normal conditions that is a silly way to drive. I now have the fun of getting into work after three inches of snow fell overnight. Apparently cars are skidding off all over the place.

Put them in a cup and save them for later.

1 hour later and I managed to get three miles out before turning back. I could feel the traction going the whole way with a few other cars slipping sideways. Ironically I passed a snowplow coming the other way as I was returning home. I think he is in for a surprise a little further up the road as it looks like it is blocked by cars.

The weather forecasts for my corner of the world have been spectacularly wrong for at least 4 days so far.

We've been expecting blizzard-like conditions since Friday, and I have actuallly yet to see any snowfall. At most, all I've seen is a drop of sleet, and we have nothing on the ground here.

There were all sorts of weather alert warnings issued for here for today... I just woke up, looked out the window and it's all just grey. Grey clouds and just rain.

Do the weather people just panic and like to colour in all parts of the map for the fun of it?

The computer does!

This is a picture of the computer forecast from last week with the warm front and cold front meeting. It obviously didn't know which one was going to win so just scribbled all over the British Isles

I like how the local weather report says one thing, the national another and then flip to the other side and you get two further different predictions. Then I look out the window and it is something completely different again.
